I am currently in Larnaca staying with my yaya & pappous, I feel when when I go out with my grandparents and cousins I get dirty looks and stared at. I have been coming to Cyprus since I was born every year sometimes 4 times a year, it's my second home! Sometimes I stay in kakopetria as we have a house there and I feel so at home there! No racism, everyone is so warm and loving! It's mostly in the city I feel the racism and its from a moisture of ages young and old!

It puzzles me that at kakopetria is so different.
it also puzzles me that -apparently- you got this feeling when you came to the certain age you are now.
Probably you feel too insecure at Larnaca and this SHOWS, causing people's attention.

I suggested something along those lines, too. You would expect a village to be more parochial and a city so mixed that, yet another person walking around, she wouldn't be noticed as much.

It looks like apc made a joke, but MR-from-NG couldn't help himself laughing, over the top, at stereotypes, for any opportunity. This ganging up by MR was unnecessary and turned a joke into a cruel jibe.

(I did attempt to analyse your situation; it's through that we could have reached some idea of what is happening, but all too quickly the supporters of turkish occupation jumped in at what they saw as an opportunity to attack Cypriots. They are opportunists, for sure.)

Listen Gig, I'm not the most PC person on the planet, never claimed to be. Nor am I treating the forum as a popularity contest. I laughed at Apc's joke because he timed it to perfection. I doubt if any member reading could help but laugh so stop using me as a escape goat. I just called half a dozen people in my office, and there are black and Irish people amongst us to read Apc's joke and without fail they all laughed, there you have it

I did the same thing that Sotos did, explain that APC's post probably should not be taken at face value but was an attempt at humor. Do you think him doing it was weird ? Do you think he was trying to 'defend' MR-from-NG in some 'sly' manner ?

No, Sotos posted after you had. Also, Sotos merely referred to it as the starting point for his real-life anecdote on how people cope with interracial marriages. He simply labelled the 'joke' as inappropriate and moved on with a valid post. The sole purpose of your joke was to soften the blow of the over-the-top reaction against 'others' made by MR-from-NG.

GIW argues for the sake of it not just with you but with with everyone in exactly the same way . Regardless of the facts she just invents responses and when cornered screams abt the injustices of the Turks and the wonders of the Greeks. She is a sad soul bored with nothing else to do and clearly thrives on conflict.

Here is an intesting article from a former Cyprus minister which gives a good account of the mistakes of previous Cypriot goverments and how they need to start taking some responsibility for what happenned in cyprus GIW would do well to read this.
