Will There Be a Coup Against Erdogan in Turkey?

Since the following piece was written by Michael Rubin, an influential voice on the American right, it carries some weight. Indeed, I wonder if this is an instance of kite flying.

It is becoming clearer by the day that Erdoğan has lost his sanity and is taking the country towards disaster. It is a pity that Gezi failed, as that could have been a velvet revolution, and my money is still on some kind of initiative within the AKP to force him to act within the constitution if not actually ditch him in some way. Time will tell.

I hope not! Erdogan is doing a great job in isolating Turkey and making it more Islamic! That is exactly what we need him to do ;)

I believe Erdogan is as good as Turkish leaders get. We naively believe that Turkish politicians can and will behave in a civilised manner. But which have? None! They're all as bad as each other.

The solution is to reorganize Turkey and return the stolen lands to the rightful people.

We want Turkey in a Civil war, 20m Kurds uprising.

Balance of power changes, we get our chance to be liberated.

Erdoğan is slated to make an four-day official visit to the USA next week starting on Tuesday. That makes the timing of this article even more interesting.

I'm very optimistic that this lunatic's time is up. The arrest of Reza Zarrab must have him worried. Come on USA, bring this man down, you owe it not only to Turkey but to the whole civilised world.

I hope so, too, but if it can be done domestically and through legal means within Turkey, so much the better. I really hope to see him answer for his crimes in a court of law (even if the last time he was convicted in court it was on highly spurious grounds).

That would be the ideal Tim but the lunatic has corrupted the place to the core. Turkey has always been corrupt but Erdogan has taken it to a level never seen before.

True, but hope is free!

According to Cumhuriyet, a sternly worded letter of criticism awaits Erdoğan in the USA. The newspaper has summarised it here (in Turkish):
