Not if you read what I have said. I have said I would accept a unitary Cyprus with no special rights for the TC community at all, if only GC will accept that if they choose to act in ways that are defined solely by their Greekness they accept that such is not therefore the will of a Cypriot people. That is it. It is because GC refused and still refuse to accept this that 'special rights' become necessary. If they had of accept this in the past then 'special rights' would have been unnecessary. If they accept it today then special rights would be unnecessary. But you do not accept this today to you Oceanside50 ?

Oceanside50 wrote:if the majority is pro abortion, the Tc want to have equal say in that also..

The only circumstances under which I want an equal say in an issue for the TC community is when the issue is defined not by personal choice regardless of what kind of Cypriot you are but is defined by if you are TC or GC.

Oceanside50 wrote:The RoC is not the country that it was 50 years ago when the Brits decided to give a minority equal political rights, to a majority, with the veto.

Greece, Turkey , Britain and the two Communities all agreed to that structure and the reason why such a compromised structure was agreed was because GC tried to achieve enosis as an expression of the will of a unitary Cypriot people without any regard for the wishes of TC in their own shared homeland, even though such a desire clearly was the will only of GC. If they had not tried to do this, if they had just sought an independent Cyprus, one ruled by Cypriots, then there would have been no compromised agreements and no need for them. You also exaggerate the degree to which TC could veto legislation within the 60s agreements and constitution but that is a minor point.

Oceanside50 wrote: The heirarchy has changed. The Eu is the majority and Cypriots have to abide by their laws and regulation, including EU primary law..different times, different circumstances, and the Tc are still trying to place a circle in a square peg..

The RoC has rights of veto within the EU, in fact more such rights than the TC community had within the RoC under the 60's agreements. Why do you think that is ?

That's already in the agreed, if you mean enosis, Cyprus since 1960 is an independent Republic which has agreed not to join any other country.. Cyprus being under the umbrella of the Eu offers safeguards to its citizens' rights through EU primary law. As for the veto to Cyprus within the EU, there are mechanisms to circumvent Cyprus's veto... The only time you hear about Cyprus' veto is when countries like France, Germany , England are pro use of Cyprus' veto.. Unlike the Tc veto which gave broad powers to a minority.. What difference did it make to the Tc of Makarios visited Yugoslavia ?? the majority in the EU can circumvent tiny Cyprus' veto any time it wants..

I don't know of a single TC that would trust these barbaric Greeks for their safety. The EU's and UN's safeguards and guarantees are meaningless and worthless. In the event of a repeat of 63 not a single shot would be fired by either of them to safeguard the TC's. They would observe and report back to headquarters while we are being slaughtered, so they can stick their safeguards up their arse. Turkey is our saviour and the only nation that care about our wellbeing. They may well have their own agenda but that doesn't alter the fact that they need us alive and kicking, we are no good to them dead so they have to protect us.

Never had either of them up until 74. In fact never had any of anything of significance. Were we treated with respect? Like fuck, we were second-class citizens. Were we given equal opportunities in mixed schools? Fuck off, you could've been the best football player but if you were a TC you didn't stand a chance in hell to be selected into the school team. We are now in a new era and we like the taste of freedom and security very much, in fact we are addicted to it, it is our drug and Turkey is our supplier/dealer. Long live FREEDOM and long live SECURITY.

No, Noooooooooooooo, I want my cake and I want to eat it too. Turkish troops and settlers must go back to Turkey. What want is Turkeys guarantee to protect me, just like the old days. No guarantee from Turkey then it has to be the lesser of the 2 evils, troops and settlers stay.

One of my own personal 'you know you Cypriot when...' moments was whilst working with a great Cypriot guy (who happened to speak Greek as his mother tongue) for Birdlife Cyprus, he retold the story of his visit to a Chinese restaurant only to discover they did not have any bread to serve with his meal and he ended up going out to a local shop to buy some to complement his meal. It was a hilarious story and to me it felt so definitively Cypriot, the idea that you simply could not have or enjoy a meal without bread as an accompaniment, whatever the origins of the cuisine may have been.

...tell me, MR-from-NG, will you hold the Flag of Cyprus; with me?

Between the Greek Flag, the Turkish Flag, and the Flag of Cyprus, which do you choose to fly, which will you choose to fly?
