I think Stassiadis is just playing for time, they are not talking about a referendum to the so called Cy Prob until next year now. Its just like kicking the can down the road to see what happens with Barbariansville first.

...fire. From the bombing whole towns have been destroyed; easy to call them "escape routes" and eliminate them.

This takes me back a few years. Last time I read this paper was back in the early 80s in my student days. They have done a lot worse the Kurds in Turkey itself. Some Kurdish areas look worse than Syria interms of devestation. Whole sections of cities in the South east have been destroyed,

...more on Turkey's invasion of Iraq

...eight miles into Iraq, villagers are removed from their homes forbidden to return, the villages left empty, in what is a Turkish military zone.

meanwhile a hundred miles into Iraq, Turkey's aircraft bomb a Syrian refugee camp where displaced Kurdish Iraqis can be found, allegedly a hotbed of resistance against them.

While America supports Turkey, she will do as she likes. Pressure should be put on America to stop the support the Turkish government and the military.

Here a song from the PKK. They cannot be defeated. The more the state kils the more their number grow.

This one goes back to the 80s call to strugle for which they spent 9 months of the year in jail. It did not stop the albums or the concerts, others took their place on stage and songs went on.

and here is a typical concert in Turkey 30 years of struggle. People are not afraid of Erdogan or his henchmen.

There is growing apprehension that Turkey’s actions amount to an expanding occupation. Statements coming from Ankara have not helped allay such fears. Presidential adviser Ayhan Ogan, for instance, warned July 21 that “if Turkey’s security concerns are ignored and, moreover, provoked, Turkey would create a new security belt all the way from Aleppo to Mosul.” Such a perspective points to an integrated approach on Ankara’s plan for a 30-kilometer-deep safe zone in northern Syria and its actions in northern Iraq.
