Mikros,

Great! So there are supermarkets that carry a good variety of foodstuffs?

Yes jclo there are a few Supermarkets that are have a quite amazing quantity og ingredients for eastern cuisine, like Alpha Mega in Nicosia, Larnaka and in a year or so in Limassol.

Its a long story siam, first you need good advertisment, so that people will know that you opened one!, then it is good quality food and affordable price. The trio....

point taken Mikros, I wonder if Cypriots like Thai food, or would they stick to their Cypriot food. There is a Thai -chinese takeway near us, the women who run it are genuine Thai's (I have spoken Thai with them) but the food is awful, is that what the Cypriots want, a watered down version of thai food, not spicy, more like chinese food but blander, or would genuine Thai food sell. You see there must be a reason why these Thai women can keep their restaurent open and have changed the food (They are from the North East of Thailand, where the food is the hottest), so i suspect real Thai food won't sell, but when I read this thread, everyone wants to find real Thai food, just wondering really

My wife has cooked for quite a few Cypriots and other nationalities in the 8 months w have been here, and everyone loves her food, but would it sell?

Who knows.... it's a gamble. I worked for 6 months in Thailand and I loved the food, but I'm guessing you're talking about food from around Issan (North-East)? That is way too spicy for the average person here... it took me some time to get used to the food in Phuket (spice-level that is).

I don't know how to compare it to Chinese though, the food I had was nothing like it. It's a gamble...

My Wifes from Bangkok, although we also lived in Phuket for 2 1/2 years, she cooks Bangkok style, not too hot, in Phuket the food is very hot but they use more bamboo shoots and that spicy ginger and the chillies are different, they burn your throat not just you mouth like the "ki nou" chillies favoured by Issan people. I only mentioned Issan because I know those two Thai ladies are NOT cooking anything like they would cook if they were back home, just wonder why, did they need to do that to stay in business, or would genuine Thai food - Bangkok style (which includes a lot of Chines dishes) work here, I know the only way is to try, but is an expensive experiment :)
