Korean/Thai restaurants?

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

They definetely do burn :P I had to have a fan turned on me when I ate.... but in Limassol at least I've noticed A LOT of chinese-thai advertised takeaways springing about all over the place.... there has to be some demand for them right?

You're going to have to delve into your own research there though.... you can start operating out of the house, I'll be the first one there :) I don't think most people are familiar with real thai cooking here though. But from what I can gather, people on the island love trying new things, especially if its fancy.... more expensive investment though.

I am not wise enuff to give any more business related advice/opinions :(

What is happening in Cyprus????????? My sister and her husband had a chinese meal yesterday night in a restaurant in Nicosia and they paid 30 pounds! I have been shocked as I heard the price they paid .They told me they had several dishes and a bottle of wine. In London a chinese meal for two can cost 15 pounds and also the price includes several dishes as well. Why so much difference on the price?. Do we have to pay extra for the weather here?

In NYC, the prices for Chinese food really differ between each restaurant. The take out place are dirt cheap, Chinatown itself is dirt cheap. There are, however, upscale restaurants that will charge an arm and a leg for their food. The food may be slightly better, but you're really going for the ambience, etc.

Take out - $15 max
Chinatown - $10-$20
Upscale $50 up!

There is a Thai -chinese takeway near us, the women who run it are genuine Thai's (I have spoken Thai with them) but the food is awful, is that what the Cypriots want, a watered down version of thai food, not spicy, more like chinese food but blander, or would genuine Thai food sell. You see there must be a reason why these Thai women can keep their restaurent open and have changed the food (They are from the North East of Thailand, where the food is the hottest), so i suspect real Thai food won't sell, but when I read this thread, everyone wants to find real Thai food, just wondering really

My wife has cooked for quite a few Cypriots and other nationalities in the 8 months w have been here, and everyone loves her food, but would it sell?

Hmm.. I never saw really hot food in Cyprus. Not in indian restaurans, not in mexican. But you can try, I will definitely come in your Thai restaurant :)

Hi all,
I'm a lover of SouthEastAsian cuisine, and I'm also interested in Thai, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Philipino etc. restaurants. I found some take aways in Limassol but it's not what I'm looking for. Any advice will be appreciated.
I'm trying to cook the asian way at home, I've easily found some neccesary ingredients like coconut milk, lemon grass, ginger, green and red curry paste, fish souce etc. but I'm still struggling to find galangal rhizome, thai basil, holy basil and shrimp paste (my stock container which I bought in Thai market in Frankfurt is almost empty)!! Can anybody advice if there is any specialised shop/delicatessen for such things in Cyprus??

polynesian food

Try Pago Pago in the Castelli Hotel, Nicosia near Paphos Gate Police Station. Amazing food (polynesian), atmosphere and decoration....like a little wooden hit with straw roof. Sit near the fish tanks and the waterfall. Also they have a cuban quartet that serenade the diners and do requests. Great restaurant. Main course sets you back about £10.00 and they all look so unbelievable when served. They really make an effort with presentation. The cho cho is little satays of marinated beef that you cook on a small burner at your table. The green adn red curries are so tasty. The honey chicken is devine. Yum yum :D
