Russia and Turkey are bedfellows, they both want for different reasons Europe's decline. But that is competition, isn't it?

...indeed Cyprus is a locus for the interlocutors whose separate dramas are coalescing in the Naval power they can represent in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The crisis cannot be avoided, it seems Turkey will not let that happen; despite the hordes i do not despair, training will count, discipline, Turkey has neither, their ships are new. Turkey may yet release "them'' embedded in the EU fabric, and that may be, without Visa free travel with Europe.

...but how will NATO countries fight a NATO ally, it will count what Russia does? In any case an embargo may qualify as a just sanction on Turkey, if Turkey dares to put up a fight. I can imagine Greek Naval forces engaging the "Turks" with equal force this summer, just a day or two ago a Greek Naval ship was rammed and damaged. Turkey will engage for supremacy in these seas to disrupt the balance of power, and while Cyprus is a locus, it is more like a lever's fulcrum if he can control the seas around it, he will make the claim that he controls all the sea that represents a Continental Shelf that's "her's" (his Turkey).

The damage has been done, this is a prelude, do not forget to her own drillship arriving soon.

Your last link is great news.

But the most significant link is this one:

Exxon Mobil : Exxonmobil to Send Oil, Gas Exploration Ships to Cyprus, Despite Turkish Threats

Turkish warships have at the moment blockaded the island to prevent a drill sent by Italys biggest energy company, ENI, from proceeding with scheduled drills.

The American energy giant ExxonMobil is signaling its intention to ply ahead with oil and gas exploration in the Republic of Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), ignoring Turkeys threats towards companies that have signed agreements with Nicosia.

Turkish warships have at the moment blockaded the island to prevent a drill sent by Italys biggest energy company, ENI, from proceeding with scheduled drills.

ExxonMobil has hastened to arrange for two offshore oil and gas exploration ships to Cyprus at the end of this month. The companys decision comes straight on the heels of ENIs debacle.

ExxonMobils decision was confirmed in statements by Cyprus Energy Minister, Yorgos Lakkotrypis, who said that Cyprus partners in its drilling programme have contacted the government to signal their support, and their intention to meet their commitments, despite Turkeys bellicose posture in recent weeks.

ExxonMobil, whose former CEO is US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, has secured, in partnership with Qatar Petroleum, exploration rights for Block 10 of Cyprus offshore oil and gas fields.

The above is a significant statement being made by one of the largest Oil Corporations on the planet, Exxon Mobil.

They wouldn't be making such statements if they didn't know something about Trumps likely responce to Turkish recalcitrance.

To me, I translate it as follows:

USA: We don't care what warships Turkey will be sending, our Oil Rigs will still press ahead with planned drilling in 2018.

In other words, FUCK OFF TURKEY! If you send any warships to hinder us, we will send some bigger ships to protect our assets.

I can just see Trump's phone call to Erdogan:

Erdogan: Allo!
Trump: Trump here
Erdogan: we send big Turkish warships!
Trump: My warships are bigger than yours, and have bigger guns too.
Erdogan: Allahu Akbar!
Trump: Bans Turkish nationals from the USA
