this was what labour introduced in 1945 and it is visionary to recognise the importance of it and bring it back. medical teeth decay prevention for all.

You've heard of The Laffer Curve have you...?

You probably have but won't acknowledge it.

I saw the results of a poll recently, Labour voters were asked if they supported taxing 'The Rich' more even if it reduced tax revenues...

They replied 'yes' by an overwhelming majority.

Labour. The politics of spite and envy...

that is a jolly good myth. give it up. the days when corporations got away with not paying tax is over. if they trade in uk, they will pay their taxes in uk. loopholes will be closed.
Prime minister's husband's investment firm has paid NO corporation tax in eight years. how can they pay less tax under any circumstances if they are not paying anything now. unless they claim unemployent benefit.

you are full of bullshit and you know it.

Not a myth, simple, observable fact - and common sense too.

If you increase tax there is more incentive for taxpayers to spend time (and money) to reduce their tax burden. People will also stop working extra hours if the money they get paid for it mostly goes on tax.

Remind me again, how much extra tax do you voluntarily pay to HMRC over and above what you owe...?

Did they still set the curve peak when Labour was in power...?

Your apparent belief is that Labour tax polices will result in a lower tax take. It is nothing more than that, a belief. That you then try and present it as a 'fact' and quote the laffer curve as you 'evidence' just indicates to me how little interest you have other than just saying over and over 'I am right you are wrong' as if just saying it over and over can make it true.

It never ceases to amaze me that those ardent leave voters, who bang on about having faith and belief in the UK's capacity and ability to make its way in the world alone as a nation of entrepreneurs and traders will also argue 'you can not tax the rich because they just fuck off if you try'. The contradictions are glaring to me.

music to my ears. it makes so much sense.
<<<The nationalisation of water, energy grids and the Royal Mail would save UK households £7.8bn a year and pay for itself within seven years, according to new academic research.

A report by Greenwich University’s Public Service International Research Unit put the total cost of compensation to private sector owners at just £49.7bn – around a quarter of the widely quoted £196bn price tag calculated by the CBI last month, which also covered rail.

Labour’s manifesto for the 12 December general election is expected to include commitments to take the rail network, National Grid, water and mail delivery back into public hands.

PSIRU director David Hall said his estimates were based on compensating shareholders for the amount they have invested in utilities being taken into public hands, rather than paying out a “market value” price as the CBI suggested.

Savings are calculated by comparing the current cost of dividends and interest paid by private companies to the cost of refinancing with debt raised by issuing government bonds.>>>

I'm sure it makes sense to readers of The Independent' the least independent left wing 'newspaper' on the news stand...

...and of course those Socialists that think The Groaniad is 'the best newspaper'...

what is the price of the company?

i am sure the government will look at the profitability and the hole in their pension pot before offering them a fair price but of course government can easily buy them at a price they see fit.

just to give you an idea here are some examples

DIY chain Homebase has been sold for just £1
In 2015, Sir Philip Green sold the BHS department store chain for £1
City Link was bought by investment firm Better Capital for £1 in April 2013.
Better Capital paid £13m for the publisher in April 2010 but admitted defeat just under four years later and sold it for £1 to Mike Luckwell
After Swansea City FC was relegated to the third division in 2001, the Welsh football club's owners sold it for the princely sum of £1.
Ken Bates paid a token £1 for Chelsea way back in 1982 - but also took on debts totalling some £1.5m.
not fogetting ing that also went for £1.

it is time baby.
