Actually the Superb was a really nice car in its ages... The Rapid/105/120 were just crap as designs, having an air cooled engine at back, leaving the front axle totally uncontrollable... But the worst skoda was the Favourite, too unreliable and awful build quality

I used to work with a German lady who loved her Daf 44. I swear the gearbox ran forward and backward with an elastic band.

Well I'm an Aussie with a Lada Samara and a Lada Cevaro and have been reasonably happy with both.

They are 'orphan' vehicles here with little re-sale value.
Which is good. I buy one for shit, spend a few dollars on it, drive it for a couple of years then throw it away and get another one. Cheap motoring.

Only reason I posted this here is that I've been told that Lada is somehow 'related' to Skoda ?

Thank you, Pekousek.

I'm just a poor dumb Australisn. What do I know ?
As I said, it was only something I had heard - that they were "related".
I bow to your superior wisdom.

I think perhaps that at one time they had the same DISTRIBUTOR here in Aus and that gave rise to the misinformation.
Or perhaps, could there possibly be some financial link between the companies, albeit that one is Russian and the other Czech.
Unlikely I suppose.

Nope, different companies, different everything... Ladas were better though as they were using old Fiat technology which is not bad!

No Scoda's no Lada's in the USA. As far as I know.

My question is. Weren't they using Fiat platforms? Did they change to VW?

I m confused.
