If you stay behind knowing you are going to be surrounded, its because you want to defend it to the death. If you want to leave, then leave before being surrounded. But it does not make sense because if you stay to defend it, you are effectively asking them to flatten it. It is better to leave and live to fight another day. At least this way they will not destroy it trying to capture it.
