It's alright for the west to fund and arm Ukraine but how dare the Chinese take side and help Russia. They are in shock and horror, how could this happen?

Militarily China hasn't really done anything for Russia. In fact, the trade in arms has been almost all in the other direction. For the Chinese it's all ultimately about money and support for the Russians confined mostly to words. A bit like Russia with the Cyprob?

As far as trade goes Chinese exports to the West dwarf those to Russia - even in these times. They export more than double the amount of goods to the EU. Which is why overall the Chinese have adopted the attitude of an eager vulture, overlooking events and hedging their bets. Even in these times and post-Trump the US remains by far their biggest export market. $400billion. Accounting for about 17% of all their output. Their exports to Russia amount to around $50billion,

That hasn't of course stopped them buying bargain basement oil from Russia.
