Hunting Season - when does it end?

Postby mrterrific » Mon Feb 13, 2006 1:35 pm

According to an article I read recently, the Cyprus hunting season extends from last Sunday in October until last Sunday in December. Is this supposed to be true? If so, how come every Sunday and Wednesday they are still out shooting? If not, when can I emerge from my house without fear of becoming gun fodder twice a week.

Cheers,
MrT

I think there are different seasons for different animals. ie birds during one period and then hares another. But who honestly checks that this is what goes on.

I think it is just a free for all and if it moves.....shoot it.

They don't wait until the season ends to shoot each other, there have been some serious injuries earlier in the season.

It is possible buy high visibility camouflage jackets (a contradiction in terms i know), maybe this is to make the hunters feel safer or an easier target for their fellow 'great white hunters'.

Pass the testosterone

Yes, evidently the Lesser Spotted Orange Jacket Ape is a much prized 'catch' to the Cypriot hunter.

Every home should have one stuffed and mounted !!

Hunters are required to waer hi visability flashes on their back, plus display their licences. The first day of the hunting season is usually the worst; fired up with Zivanir they set out at midnight...

Hunting is a cruel "sport". How can people enjoy killing living beings?
