If an driving instructor is on the phone whilst giving a lesson there is no hope. Everything starts from the learning upwards. We all have bad habits but if a driver has no understanding from the beginning of lane discipline, junction boxes, stop lines, give way signs etc etc etc etc, start fining the driving schools and examiners!

Put a Cypriot on the round about at Marble Arch. That would be a Fear Factor I would watch!

I am taking driving lessons in a really old car (automatic) its about 12-15 years old, no power steering and the speedo doesnt work!! My lesson takes 20-25 minutes, Its scary because after 10 lessons I can take my (20 minute) driving test! I think that the problem is - everyone wants to be "in front" and they overtake any way they can. I think that the penalties should be more severe and youngsters shouldnt be allowed in such powerful cars. I can take my test now if I want - but theres no way I am experienced enough to drive alone!!

There you are..... It's down to the teaching. Start at the beginning and the problems will be filtered out....

From the Cyprus Weekly today

New tragedy strikes family

George Evripidou, 26, died on Green Monday along with his travelling companion, Andreas Costakis Sierepekli, also 26.

Evripidou’s parents Adamos and Niki, aged 61 and 52, both died in the crash. Besides Evripidou, the couple had one other child, an elder son called Evripides.

According to the police, the accident happened at 3.45pm on the new Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia-Akaki highway. Evripidou was driving.

The young man, training to be a lawyer like Sierepekli, reportedly suffered from multiple sclerosis.

It is thought that the two men had been travelling at high speed and that Evripdiou lost control of the car, which crashed into an embankment and traffic sign before repeatedly overturning.

Anyone with information on the accident has been asked to inform the police by calling 1460, Nicosia Traffic Squad or their nearest police station.

The two deaths raised the number of those killed so far this year to 12.

Was the driver suffering from MS? Was he fit to drive?? I blame the authorities, the driving schools, the examiners and the police. When will the carnage end........

A friend of mine from England would like to know whether he is allowed to take driving lessons, take a test in Cyprus and then be issued a Driving License in Cyprus or England which he can use in both places. Any ideas?

It is such a shame that so many , mostly young , Cypriots lose their lives on the roads of Cyprus. It is evident that a very large percentage of Cypriot drivers are undisciplined ,rude , have no road sense and are endangering the lives of innocent people by their irresponsible behaviour on the roads. Notice how many pass the red light line while eagerly awaiting for the lights to change to green. See how many motorcyclists wear helmets , and how many exhibit them selves by performing wheelies at high speeds . The government unfortunately lets this happen and no real effort is made to educate or punish these morons. Any one ever seen the stupendous stupidity of brain dead youngsters engaging in masochistic exhibitions at Enaerios Cafes in Limasool ? For a nation that sanctity of life commands such heights , its unbelievable that so many young people find their journey of life abruptly brought to a premature end on the roads.

In cyprus you can take a test to get an international DL that you can use anywhere I believe.
