Hire cars have red number plates to warn other drivers that the people behind the wheel are not locals. So on this concept we should introduce the Green number plate. This is applicable to any person who got their license in Cyprus / out of a cornflake box.

At least this way us drivers who got our licenses from o/seas know to expect the totally unexpected from green drivers.

Just a thought

:D

In cyprus you can take a test to get an international DL that you can use anywhere I believe.

how does it go with what sneezing7 wrote?

It doesn't......but either ways its scary to think that there are Cypriots outside of Cyprus driving cars in otherwise structured communities.

I quoted the wrong person. I was answering to oneness who asked about wether a friend can get a driver's license in Cyprus and drive in both cyprus and UK.

I took my test here last year, the lessons were very strict but the test!!!!........ oh my god i drove up to the end of the road and did a three point turn and came back again that was it pass!!! Not that im complaining but, i havent ( touch wood ) had any sort of accident yet, lets not tempt fate! But i must say as an inexperienced driver i cant believe what a nightmare cypriot drivers can be! I got cut up at traffic lights the other day by a bus! and it wasnt even green for him to go! Drivers here seem to drive so far up your backside they cant even see you indicate so all you can hear is screeching tyres when you turn. Thats if they are on the right side of the road to start with.

the cyprus highway code.......

Traffic lights: speed up before they change
Pedestrian crossings: to be used as the finishing line for races
Double yellow lines: park here
Red number plates: Get as close as you can it might make them go faster
Indicators: Well they are just pretty lights are they not??

Please feel free to add your own to this list lol. I must say i dont get annoyed anymore i just stay well aware and laugh when i see common sence on the road fly out the electric windows lol

yeh, i took my test over here. i still need to get it converted to a UK licence though..

i failed the first test, where you get the provisional licence. i only got about half the roadsigns right... which was fair enough. except the sexy eastern europeans lady i did the test with got more wrong than me but she passed. i passed the second time, i got every single road sign right. again though there was a girl who was doing the test with me and she got pretty much all of them wrong but still passed. i didnt say anything as they'd probably have failed me.

the actual test was easy, like littlemiss said i just drove round some empty roads for 5 minutes, did a 3 point turn and got told i'd passed. mental.
