No one said it was funny or even suggested it was. It is not funny from anybody's point of view.

I am sure that a lot of good policemen put their lives on the line so we can be safe day in day out. you cant generalize and insult them all according to what some of them do. There are bad apples in every profession. I have had a really bad experience with a cop myself, but I never thought they all suck.

As Andri_cy said, there are bad apples in every profession. They should be tracked down and punished and thrown off the force. Too many times though, things like this get brushed under the carpet. Punishment in Cyprus is a laughable. Half the time the charges are reduced and the sentences dropped.

One question though:-

Why do policemen ask you what your parents/husband does when they stop you? I often think the police in Cyprus are too worried about upsetting someone in a high position so are weary to penalise people.

I believe this is for identification reasons. There are lots of people with the same name and surname in Cyprus, asking for parent's name will allow for better identification.

The police in Cyprus are a third-world organization

They are lazy, corrupt and poorly managed.

Why do we have such a high death toll on our roads, and why else do people feel they can brazenly flout the law here ? It's because they know that the police will not get up off their arses and catch them.

They are uselss, the lot of them. We need to sack them all and import policemen from abroad.

I hope you took notice of the report last week into the death of a black man in police custody in hull, 4 police officers sat round chating while mr alder lay handcuffed on the floor of hull police station choking to death on his own blood and vomit, the police did nothing to asist him untill he was dead.

Does that actually mean that the whole police force in the UK are bad people? We already established that there are bad corrupt people in every police force and every profession. We just not need generalize and call the all useless and corrupt and all that. Even in a place where supposedly 90% would be corrupt there is still a 10% that are good cops. So it is not fair to call them ALL names.

Lysi i know there are corrupt police officers here and in the UK, i agree they should be caught and punished, i joined the police in 1978, at that time things were different, i must admit i was glad to get away from the job, nobody had any respect for us anymore or for that matter for any one ie: teachers doctors and even parents. i can hold my head up high and say i did my best at the job and was always fair and just, there are some bad apples but let me tell you in the UK the majority of officers are hard working honest people, imagine society without them!!!!!!

brit police screw motorists

Postby lysi » Wed Apr 05, 2006 9:48 am

Bones, i think the majority of police officers in britain are racist, corrupt and let the power of there uniform go to there head, they are more intrested in stopping and screwing money out of motorists or arresting people for smoking a joint.
Crime in britain is out of control and the police should not have a them and us attitude to the public.
