The first time ever i got drunk (well, alcohol poisoning really),i was about 7 or 8 years old. My grandfather and his friends were having a night of zivania bender, and every time I got near the table I took a sip from someone's glass. They tought it was funny, but i soon became violently ill.
To this day i cannot smell the stuff without feeling like vomitting. :)

Best Zivania I have tasted is made by our neighbour, he sells it in 1.5 litre water bottles, we had a party back in the summer and one guest was merrily adding it his whisky by mistake (boy was he in a state!)

I always avoided it like the plague until our friendly village shopkeeper made me a Zivania and 7 Up with lots of ice, wonderful, refreshing and totally lethal.....I had 6, walked home in the middle of the road fell into a ditch and once home into a coma......the headache the following morning was the worst ever I was truly scared I wasn't going to die!

Moral is drink it neat it is not safe with mixers!

Last summer I took my friends to our summer house in pedoula and the last night we had a party. Lisa challenged one of my other friends to a drinking competition sufficient to say that they opted for zivania and sprite.
They were both in such a comatose state the other day we had to postpone the return trip.

i think zivania - is light sweet vodka...but vodka is tradition in russia from the climate..is like national phobia - cold vodka+boiled potato+fish:)))is really natural when outside is -30-40. especcialy for men. but zibania in cyprus with sea and flowers...no i prefer wine

Yes, you are both correct, when I sit and have a meal it is always nice to open a bottle of Othello or Thisbe, but when I am back in cold, wet Scotland, 2500 miles away from Limassol, nothing transports me back there quicker than ZIVANIA !!!

But all is not lost -- I managed to get my flights booked for the family yesterday, so we will return in July AND December
