What!

You know you are wrong so now you switch to other countries

I was talking about Australia and New Zealand. So do you agree that I am right on this?

I say that as Cyprus is an independent country, we should honour our flag, but we can also honour the Greek flag, as we are Greek Cypriots. Just like in the occupied areas, the TCs display the Turkish flag. Do you condemn them aswell

As an outsider of Cyprus, i do not understand why the adoration with Greece .... in Cyprus' darkest hour Greece screwed you over (coup) and then sat back watching the Turkish invasion. But still the Greek flag is flown everywhere ?

It is not so much an adoration with Greece, it is that we are Greek Cypriots. So why shouldn't free citizens express this if they wish.

By the way, it is not as straightforward as you put it. There is more to it than Greece simply stabbing Cyprus in the back. For a start, some of the troubles was because of a junta, that no longer exists. You cannot blame the Greece of today for that.

My friend BigDutch, even though I got tired of outsiders bringing up always the same point, I think we should make an FAQ for people so that we don't have to reply the same things again and again.

Greeks from Greece and Greek Cypriots have the same ethnical background. They are all Hellenes(Greeks). Except from this beeing what we are it is also an officially defined fact in the constitution of the Republic of Cyprus.

We were not screwed by Greece, ALL greeks including greekCypriots were screwed up by the military regime , the Junta that was rulling Greece at that time.

Those people who orchestrated this fiasco were all Jailed for high treason to the nation by the Greek state.

Simon the Greek flag has no place in Cyprus! Piratis has made good valid points above!

I'll have to disagree on that one Michalis Greece has been a valuable ally to Cyprus.
We lead they follow. The different goverments of Greece have made it very clear that they will support Cyprus on whatever decisions it makes according to the national problem.

Greeks are those who share a common cultural and language rather than those who share a common blood.ISOKRATIS.

greece does carry a "fault" syndrome over cyprus. thats why in general we decide and they support. sth that is not always the case though (see s-300 ) . without greece, cyprus would have never managed to enter the EU. after our entrance in the EU , and our OXI which the majority of greek political leadership was not that happy about it - they continute to support us , but they at the same time continue to improve their bilateral relations with turkey (especially in businness and economics). they somehow agreed to disagree with turkey on the cyppro , but that is not a reason to stop business. wise tactic wouldnt you say ?

I hate the sight of the Greek flag being flown in my country-I also hate the sight of the Turkish flag as well. Theyboth have no place in an independent Cyprus and are a clear indication of the lack of the "Cypriot Identity ". I would ban them both other than at their respective embassies.

i believed from years that the dabate of what we are , cypriots or greeks was a fake one. i always believed that it was a dillemma set by the two biggest parties to polrise the climate. they both knew that waving a flag at people is the easiest way of following blindly. i saw them for years in the 15 nov , demonstrations fighting against each other and alway forgeting the purpose of the demonstration.

i took a position on the subject when i realised the symbolism the carrying of the greek flag has to my compatriots. then i took a position. i love the greek people , but for the sake of cyprus the greek flag has no place here. as simple as that.

the same holds for the turkish flag
