I never said that you were not educated, I was trying to figure out why the word Kalamaras set you off, if in fact, it means educated. By the way, educated can be a very open ended statement. What does it really mean when someone claims to be educated. Does it mean, they can simply read and write or that they know almost everything that there's to know, or somewhere in the middle. Does going to University automatically grant one the knowledge to claim to be educated over one who has not attended, but has vast knowledge of life long experiences that can not be found in any text book.

What does educated mean again..????

Educated in my opinion means with culture-one who can read and write but also has knowledge of other cultures and traditions and religions and has respect for them

Andri , I respect every ones right to believe in what ever they were brought up to believe and to adhere to what ever culture they were born in. In their own country preferably. I'm damned if I'm also going to respect all cultures and religions.
Certain cultures call for mutilations , some demand the death penalty for a rape victim , there are some that in order to retain their familys honour certain despicable events have to take place, you see we cant just respect cultures that still practice devil worship and human sacrifices.

It is an interesting question, isn't it, just how does one defines "educated".
Certainly, the items you mentioned is part of one's education. By the way, are you anywhere near "The City" by the Bay, by any chance.

That's exactly what I meant. Visited most states, but never went to Louisville, Kentucky. Would have liked to have seen the Kentucky derby, but not to be. Sorry for the miss spell in my quote. It was suppose to say "part".

I love it here. I have managed to live in a small town and it reminds me of home. Louisville people are very friendly almost like us. I really miss home but they way we have everything planned out we wont be able to come back till after retirement. Salaries are bigger and life is much cheaper here so thats how it goes. :(

andri_cy,

I get the impression, it's a little bit like the "The Bridges over Madison County", where people know and help each other. That's middle America for you. I spent 25 years in San Francisco, and the Bay Area, which for sailing, it's fantastic. For the past 2 years,I have been living near Zürich, Switzerland, but I do miss the coast and the ocean, so I return every year for a month or so. Salt water must be in my blood by being a Cypriot.
