Nice theory but afraid it doesn't work like that. Whilst it should be like that we all know that society will not see it that way. A woman that prudly sleeps around is seen as dirty, sometimes hated, sometimes pitied but always very negatively seen. A man does the same and the worst he will get is a 'tut tut'. At bets he will be awarded praise by the other guys and in some cases other women will even be attracted to it.

I'm not saying its right but in the words of RUN DMC, "it's like that, and thats the way it is".

I think women here at this forum choose to misintrepet what was the issue here.

It is diferent to be sleeping around with different people and it is different if you have an occassional stray from the matrimonial knot because of necessity.

i ask that you read and understand the issue raised here

very few men dont cheat.
very few women dont know when her man is cheating on her. most of the women are pretending they dont know about it. reasons for pretending are different: she is cheating also, she loves him so much that she forgives him even cheating, she afraids to leave him because she thinks she is old, ugly etc to find another man, they have a child and she wants her child to have a father, she hopes it was his last time etc...

Practising safe sex is far less dangerous than alcohol, drugs and other forms of pleasure...

So why shouldnt it be something one can choose to do just for the fun?

Its PEOPLE that say sex should be between people in relationships, the reality is, we can do it with whom we please when we please as long as both/all parties concerned agree...

Sex inside a relationship is just one more form of peer pressure... just like that which starts people smoking and taking drugs...

;)

I think each to their own but personally I think its wrong to brand a woman a whore for having one night stands and a man a stud for doing the same thing
I think casual sex is wrong anyway.......its such an intimate act, such a personal connection and to just do it with anyone for me is wrong.......
society still has such a double standard on this issue but who are we to judge anyway..........

yeh yeh yeh, we all think its wrong too but we are all guilty of it. Its like saying its wrong to throw food away when there are children starving in Africa but we all do. Things will change but even a small change takes generations. In our great grandparents generation the women were branded whores if they slept with their fiance before the wedding or even if a widow re-married, stuff that widely accepted now. So it is evolving and always in the direction of womens favour and equality.

PS. If you as a lady were having plenty of one night stands would you be comfortable about telling your social circle that you do such things?

The opposite I believe.

They are being true to themselves, just not to others, they are doing what they like despite knowing that many classify it as anti-social. Much the same way that gays and lesbians in to 60's kept it quiet. They did what they enjoyed and what felt natural to them but kept it secret from society for fear of how they will be mistreated or seen as dirty. I seriously applaud anyone that stands up proud of what they do despite knowing that many will look down on them, these are the people that pave the way while the rest of us get on with stuff in secret praying that the neighbours never find out.

well arent you contradicting yourself GG
you are saying you applaud anyone that stands up proud of what they do but then say
women are whores for sleeping around??

for me I have no issue with people choosing to do that.......its their life!

isnt it ironic that the majority of Cypriots would look down on woman who chooses to live her life in a different way, who might choose to have lots of lovers etc etc but then have such a high percentage of marital affairs and place such an importance on sex, greed and all that jazz..........
