Sorry to say this cyprus4ever, but the last 2 times I have been to Gregory's, the service has been poor and the food wasn't up to scratch. Its a damned shame as I used to be a regular there, going 2 times a week. The last time I was there, I overheard Mr Gregory call us stupid in the kitchen. Why?? because we turned up at opening time and he said they just opened up. I said to him that its not a problem for us and we'll wait until he is ready. Thats when he went into the kitchen and said "some people are too stupid to listen".

Service like that, especially to regular customers is uncalled for.

Thats the one cyprus4ever. Its remarkable though, 100 metres before you get to Gregorys coming from town, you can smell the sewers. 100 metres after Gregorys, you can smell the sewers. When you get to Gregorys, you smell souvlaki and fresh air!

best restaurant in limassol is little plates. Roddy is the owner and he does meze in a way that will make you drool. service is like nothing you have ever had and the food is inexpensive and the nicest on the island. just off makarios ave. from the roundabout straight up makarios ave. Turn right just before bodyline gym. just down a little side street Carpet /rug shop on the corner. 100yds on the left. If you are going then take me with you. Also Neon Phalleron is marvelous. bit expensive and up market but for a special treat you cant beat it. will try and find the name of the street, but its near costa coffee house and the old cinema. If you take me then I can show you where it is!!!

have to agree with you Hazza , the smell just makes you hungry .

we go there a lot aswell, fortunately we haven't had a bad experience yet.
their kebabs (you must try the chicken) are to die for.

also tried Boreas. must be the odd one out here as i know plenty of people who rave about it, but i didnt enjoy. PLENTY of food but everything seemed to contain Halloumi cheese (which i dont like) and that was even grated over the chips!!!!

poor me!

will be trying Halibi - heard good reviews.
also believe there is a second one soon ready to open on the Dekelia road

A friend of mine asked me this last week. Here is my reply (Limassol based only):

Ta Piatakia (The Plates) - One of my favourite restaurants at the moment. Food is excellent and the ambiance is thick. Owner is gay as a wodden spoon in a spaghetti festival, so be warned. He likes a bit of touchy touchy. Wine selection is vast, but overall quite poorly selected. Definately recommend this place if you have never been.

Dinos Restaurant - Overpriced & shockingly horrible food. Sushi was basically sticky rice, unprepared with a piece of seafood plonked ontop. Wasabi was diluted, and soya sauce was the cheap shit you get from the discount store. Pasta was undercooked, and the rest of the menu looked quite bland. Basically an expensive cafe experience. It is a shame, because the layout is quite nice, yet the food is such a let down.

Tokyo - Very good dining experience. Traditional Japanese chef show, and great wine selection. I wouldn't classify the food as "authentic", but it is passable. Quite well priced, and overall an enjoyable place.

The Japanese Place near the St Nick Roundabout - Easily the best Japanese food in Cyprus. Authentic Japanese chef, and proper sushi boats floating around the prep area. EXCELLENT wine selection, and not too over priced. The interior is a bit dank, but its not dirty. Highly recommended. Be warned, after a couple of bottles of red, the boats may become unstable when you throw chopsticks at them.

Historikon - Traditional Greek Taverna. Food is well prepared, and the interior is brilliant. Live Greek Bouzoukia on the weekend too! Octopus is marinated in a awesome chilli oil.

Porta Taverna - Another Taverna, but with a twist. They bring you a little conicle bbq for your table, where you prepare the food yourself. Nice concept. Don't wear a tie, or white. You will get dirty.

The Freeway Inn - The best Lebanese restaurant in Limassol. They will also bring you a hookah pipe to smoke whilst you eat. Owner is an absolute tripper, but it makes for good entertainment.

Limassol Nautical Club - Suprisingly the food is not bad. Fish is very fresh, and the rest of the menu is decent. Just make sure you go before all the Cypriots / locals come. White pants & blue eye shadow is enough to ruin anyones appetite.

Ladas - Great fish restaurant, but dont expect to walk out with too much chance from 150-170CYP for 2 people. Nice setup though

Chinese Place Next door to Ladas - Average food, but nice restaurant. Big ass fish tanks everywhere, so you always have somewhere to look if the date is going horribly wrong.

La Mer - Boring restaurant, but very fresh fish. More of a lunch place I would say. Very good selection as well.

Neon Phalliron - This is where people with no personality go to eat. Boring selection. Appaling service. Nice cuttlery.

Famagusta Nautical Club - Awful building, but awesome fish. Also location is excellent right next to the beach.

Garden Restaurant - Chevaps are excellent. Rest of the menu is average. More of a lunch than dinner place.

Kod Cece - Not bad at all. Proper Yugoslavian delicacies, served with "traditional" chips. Has been a bit quite there since their singer / entertainer was deported.

The Bay Tree - Cute place. Food is clean and tasty. No nasty suprises the next morning.

Streto & Artemi - Menu looked good, food looked good, the waiter was useless & my stomach was f*cked later that eveneing. Nuff said

Not going to mention any of the hotel restaurants, as they are all about the same.
