Pissouri is not a city and it is not a town either. Its a village ;)

........and would you visit Nicosia or Limassol for a holiday?

Actually I would stay in Limassol. I absolutely love it here. Marvellous place with so much diversity.
Pissouri is ok if you like village life but it does get very busy Wed evenings during the summer when the square is taken over by tourists and the Bunch of Grapes isn't bad I suppose but thats about it. I would be bored within days I am afraid, or do you mean Pissouri jetty which is even more quiet.

Sorry, for me, Limassol wins hands down.

Do you think it's best that to travel around I hire a car then? Or is it easy to get around with shared taxi's and buses?
xx

If you planning to drive all around cyprus its better you have to hire a car . I will send you some details about the best rates and good cars ones. I always use petsas if i need car . Also with a rent a car you can pass north but you have to pay £10 insurance on the door . Its very safe in south or noth Cyprus to drive. Are you from uk or which country ?
You can look north cyprus forums like www.cyprus44.com to findabout north as well.
Hope you have a nice holiday

Actually GAV. Petsas tell you categorically that your rented car CANNOT be taken over to the north.

Having said that a taxi will take you over there and for a Brit to cross over its relatively easy.

And what about compared to Larnaca or Nicosia? Are they worth a few days stay if time is short?

Nicosia frightens the life out of me. I have been about three times and the traffic is horrendous and if you are not really sure where you are going its petrifying. Driving in Cyprus is a thing to be experienced but Nicosia is something else. Last time we went, we went three times round it, fell out, and came back to Limassol. Having said that its worth visiting for the experience and the museums if you get there early enough but I wouldn't stay there.

I quite like Larnaca. Its not so well developed as Limassol but has a nice beach and you can walk out eleventeen miles before you get water above your knees  Mackenzie Beach is good to visit with some pleasant tavernas. The flight path for the airport is directly over the beach though and you can get on nodding terms with the pilots!!

Limassol is in the centre though and if you stay there you can take a trip out to all other areas easily and within a relatively short space of time.

Thank you! I only have 7 days in which to do everything and I'd like to see as much as possible. Maybe I would just visit Nicosia for a day and not stay over in this case. Am tempted by car hire but the horror stories I read on here put me off! :-)

Car hire is OK and Gav is right when he says Petsas car hire is Ok. We always used them and we could never complain. Don't worry about the driving you can just go at your own speed. Let the others be stupid!! And in Cyprus its driving on the left which is great!!

If I was to not hire a car is the transport by bus/shared taxi that I have read about on the internet reliable and affordable? Can you also get to places such as Tochni by public transport?

Car hire may be best afterall but would prefer not to!

Public transport is very poor in whole Cyprus !
What kind of horror stories sis you hear ?

Also to rent a car is really cost less because you will not need to pay taxi from airport to hotel and you can pickuo the car from airport and leave it back to same aoirport when you live it will cost you only about max £120.
Or if you wanit give me a call and i will bring you everywhere

 you're mad! in a fun way.
The horror stories about the standards of driving in Cyprus on the roads in general. Boy racers and the like. Running me off the road! haha

So how much taxi from LCA airport to Larnaca to begin my journey then? Would that be expensive? Looks like a car is best for me then unless anyone else thinks that the transport system is worth a try...
