lextalionis, having read your C/V (Disclaimer), may I apply for an invitation to your canonization ceremony ?.

Jesus Christ was the last person (other than Mahatma Gandhi perhaps) who could make such claims as do you, both came to a sticky end, a little indulgence might be a safer route, certainly more fun I'll warrant.

Is there any real reason to lock this guy up in jail with the murderers, the con men, the pedophiles and the rapists because his choice in tobacco consumption is not cigarettes or Cuban cigars or nargile but marijuana ? If so I'd like to know. And please keep it in the context of the above mentioned fellow if you can.

lextalionis, your example is understood. The thing is, policy has to be developed from a worst-case scenario, not the best case. For every friend of yours, there are dozens of fools that desperately need to be protected from themselves. And if not themselves, then other people need to be protected from them because they can't handle themselves with weed, etc.

Just one of those unfortunate things - a few idiots can ruin things for everyone but policy has to be developed for all.

I leave you now to doing nothing unlawful...

I havent smoked weed for over 3 years. I was just asking some questions. Weed aint that bad if you compare it to alcohol. I would say its about the same. Its bullshit thats its illegal. Its a natural thing. Keeping it illegal causes more crime but if we legalized it i think the world would be a better place. Its like with a child if u tell him not to touch something more often then not he will. I wonder what jails are like in cyprus?

GG, it could be that these boring people get their excitement from other sources. Believe it or not, not every human being need to use drugs to get high or enjoy life.

And by the way, Air with Oxygen is the only susbstance our lungs have been created to handle ... Anything else will damage them and could end up killing us.

However, we are free to think what we want about Marijuana and other illegal substances. Just remember that the laws are for everyone.

Theodoros, you opened this thread with certain queries regarding the availability of 'weed' and it's cultivation in Cyprus.

You have received what I would consider to be negative responses to your questions and suspect you may be a little disappointed.

You also seem to be somewhat interested in the prison system here.

I feel obliged to inform you that your two subjects go hand in hand on this island, the use of hallucinogenic substances is frowned on by the legal authorities and I would advise caution should you anticipate a visit, it may well extend beyond your expectations my friend.

Retrieving your fallen soap may well prove to be an arduous task should you find yourself incarcerated in our jails (more so if a Turk is your cellmate), the general treatment of offenders here is a little different to what one would expect in other countries.

You have implied that you are something of an expert when it comes to the quality of the 'weed' you enquire after, you compare it to what is available in Holland.

Since you finally state that you have not savoured the delights of 'weed' for some 3 years or so, I wonder what is the purpose of your enquiries?.

You have only posted on 10 occasions, other than an initial post regarding the details of an accommodation, the remainder have been directed at the two principle topics plus the revelation that you are Canadian.

Welcome to the forum Theodoros, good luck with your future postings and may I offer you some sound advice?, tread carefully should your feet touch our hallowed shores, lest you find yourself 'weeded out'.

if the laws are there for everyone, then there will be absolutely NO SMOKING of cigarettes in seturaunts and pubs while i am in CY, right? becuase that 2nd hand smoke can really damage a person's lungs, and i, myself, do so enjoy breathing!

Eliko

Your above post should form the basis of an information leaflet distributed at the airports.

(Perhaps omitting the reference to Turkish cellmates  )

But Eliko is particularly well informed. I for one, respect his humble opinion.

He does not make comments lightly or purely in jest
