Good idea for space ships to make use of "solar winds", but useless at 40,000 feet....sorry.!!

How about shutting an engine down. I bet that would be very popular with the flying public.

This is done on the P3 Orions to reduce consumption and increase endurance.

Won't work. That would increase weight.

A coat of paint on commercial airliners adds up to 500kg.

Which brings me to my point. As well as shutting down engines, we could not bother with painting aircraft. This will reduce weight.

I am on a roll.

Heaven forbid me owning my own airline.

We could supply Miltiades with an endless supply of his favourite red plonk, take him to the airport after a big night and force him to blow into the aircraft's refuelling port until he is blue in the face. The aircraft could then run on the fumes alone and thus further saving fuel. This could potentially save some airlines from bankruptcy and hence save jobs.

Possibly thay could modify the passenger seats to collect the excess gasses that bodies expell at lower air pressures!

That should should save loads of fuel if I am representative of the flying public!
