1960 was not a fresh start since it was something forced on Cypriots by foreign imperialists and it maintained the divisions and antagonism between GCs and TCs.

I said many times that I don't want to punish anybody for what happened in the past. It is some others who want to punish GCs by trying to show that GCs are the "guilty ones" and this is what forces me to restore the truth about the past.

What I want is Cyprus to become a modern democratic state where each citizen will be equal regardless of his ethnicity, religion, race or anything else and I do not accept any lame excuse that claims that in Cyprus we can not have what they have in all other successful countries.

How do you hope to achieve this ideal state,Piratis...???? By waiting long enough for all the TCs to be assimilated??? By waiting till the balance of power changes and then attacking??? Or by praying at your church on Sundays??? How exactly will this democratic state appear, from where we are now????

If this is your raison d'etre on this topic then you must consider how many of the TCs on this forum actually believe GCs need to be punished, and that they are the only guilty ones? The reality is that of all the TC bloggers on this site have also admitted the suffering of GCs.

Your simple one sided insistence demonstrates that you are not being truthful as to the reasons behind your rants, or you are so fixated with attaching culpability to TCs that you are unable to see the reality of the situation.

With the types of attitudes people like you exhibit, the Cyprus you wish to see materialise with TCs as a minority is hell for us. That is why a paradigm shift in your outlook needs to occur. Cyprus for TCs would not be a success in your plan and therefore would not amount to a mutual success and therefore will never see the light of day.

Most of the TCs in this forum said in a direct or indirect way that they expect GCs to be punished since they want a "solution" that will be even worst than 1960 for GCs and even better for TCs.

Also many of the TCs in this forum live happily as a minority in some country. Even those who live in the occupied areas are a minority among mainland Turks (and I am not just talking about the Settlers, but Turks in general, since in effect the north part of Cyprus is today controlled by Turkey)

Being an ethnic/religious/linguistic minority in Cyprus while also being equal citizens is not a "hell". We are all a minority in some ways and what matters in modern democratic states is the equality among the citizens.

This "TCs are not a minority" is one of the slogans that you have been brainwashed with along with the partition aim, and it serves the aim of partition as it does not allow Cypriots to live together as equal citizens instead of being divided in an anachronistic way remnant of the Ottoman era.

How do you hope to achieve this ideal state,Piratis...???? By waiting long enough for all the TCs to be assimilated??? By waiting till the balance of power changes and then attacking??? The easiest way is by convincing the TCs that this is the right thing to do. They don't need to wait until they are assimilated or until the balance of power changes for them to realize that their partitionist ideals are not for the interests of any of us.

The worst thing I can do is to accept the legalization of segregation and racist discriminations and live under some undemocratic system. Such thing would not only be a step backwards, but would also be a reward for the partitionists who will then be rewarded for their wrong choice. We should never allow this to happen.

A considerable statement, can you please define "punished" and in a few bullet points how the TC's "solution" will be worse for GCs than in 1960 - obviously we're not looking at creating the Pir-acik plan.

Respectfully A.

PS. regarding the outher aspect of "We are all a minority in some ways and what matters in modern democratic states is the equality among the citizens" the desire for one man one vote really can be evaluated by taking the issues that would come up if for example the RoC became a part of the UK and apply the one man one vote rules. The answer we already know is that GCs would not desire this outcome, therefore what is fair for you must be the same for us. Moving from an equal rights position to a miniroty is not workable - the experiences of the past and present hold all the reasons for that.

It's no good asking Piratis to use Bullets of any kind, you'll find GR will begin to salivate.

1) You want many of the GCs to give up their homeland so you can have a majority of TCs/Turks in the north part of Cyprus.

2) Instead of having equal citizens you want to divide power on community level. This is one of the faults of the 1960s constitution as well, but you now want this power sharing to change even more in your favor.

When we gained independence from the UK did we ask for London to be part of our independent Republic because a minority of Cypriots was living there?

I have no problem if you want to be independent, but your independent country can not include territories where we are the majority and obviously you can't ethnically cleanse us in order to make yourselves the majority by force either.

When you first came to Cyprus you knew that you would be a minority among Greeks. We didn't force you to become such a minority. So it is time to start showing some respect to the majority of the population of this island and stop trying to steal our lands in order to create your independent country on land which belongs by over 80% to GCs.

As I said we all belong to a minority in one or more ways, and this is not a problem in modern democratic countries which respect human rights and the rights of individual citizens. Your example with the UK has nothing to do with our case, since we are a native people of these lands, not foreign Colonialists as the British where in Cyprus.

History brought GCs, TCs and all the other communities of Cyprus living mixed on this island and you should finally accept that the whole Cyprus belongs to all of us as Cypriot people and that there is no good way to divide land and population without employing criminal and racist methods which can only lead to hate, wars, conflicts and suffering.

And how do we do it?
