Ahh, the Islamic Community Centre that is not actually going to be on Ground Zero, but 2 blocks away? Built on land they own?

The one being discussed here:

I'm sure the Greek Orthodox lobby can set up a Facebook group to sort that one out.

:? Even though building a Mosque there is a daft idea (to serve divisionism), building a Greek Orthodox Church is just as stupid when Catholicism is the most popular Christian denomination in the US! In fact Greek Orthodoxy doesn’t even make the top 5 Christian denominations in the US!

Trust you to post a video like this.....is this your contribution to reconciliation.

The guy says "Constantinople". Hardly anybody who speaks English calls it that. Is this guy for real? Its called Istanbul....15 million Turks live there. If 10 million Greeks want it back, fine but they'll be outnumbered in their own state....

You sound so stupid. Istanbul is just a translation in Turkish (more or less) of the city's initial name. thats all and nothing more. All Greeks were calling the city Polis (without Consta) and Turks just translated the name in their language. Therefore calling the city Polis or Cosatantinopole or Istanbul is just the same thing.

I love it how Americans always get themselves in these silly arguments, because they can be very open and modern yet so backward at the same time.

Either way that bold guy is an utter moron, who the hell says Constantinople, what is he from, Byzantine?

It's called Istanbul, which is derived from the Greek I stin poli, or in English, "at the city".

What city is that exactly?

The city of Constantine or Constantinople.

If you can't even give a place a proper name, don't complain when people refer to it as its actual name.

"I stin Poli" really does sounds like Istanbul, if you are deaf, blind and have speech aphraxia.

"Stanboul" on the other hand, has another story behind it...

I don't care about your historical explanation.... nobody in the world except a few wackos like you refers to it as Constantinople. You must be mad.

Do Dutch people call NYC New Amsterdam? Does anybody still say Peking? No we say Beijing. Do people call Montreal Hochelaga? grow up!

Ok so you have analysed where the name in Turkish comes from. Great! Well done! Ain't you a clever dick.

But you know what, nobody gives a shit. People from Jakarta to San Francisco and from Cape Town to Kiruna (Sweden) call it "Istanbul." I guarantee you if you go to Seoul Airport or Zagreb Airport you will see a sign not for Constantinople but Istanbul.

If in the Greek language you want to keep it historical fine. But dont try to change English with bullshit nationalist arguments.
