...better if they were trained at capacity building, if as Cypriots they were sent abroad.

Who would they fight for Cap? Who would they fight with? If it is with the Syrian People, then Cyprus must wait, and it is something that Syrians must settle among themselves first; dialog is necessary.

...Cypriots, after this warring is over, will help in the recovery, i imagine.

For now their refugees, in Cyprus, face a wide array of welcoming opinions, to say the least.

I'm sorry Cap, i do not agree; Cypriots need not spill rivers of blood, "Turkish" or not, (it is what "they" do), it is not what Syrians, or Cypriots, ask for.

...Cypriots can do better as a loving people, as facilitators of exchange, one Hopes.

...Donald Trump is no madman, his letter to Erdogan shows a lot of Statesmanship instead.

...it is as i said, man to man, Trump has given Erdogan exactly what he wants, so to speak, nothing more than his chance for Fame, or infamy.

...ceasefire, Pence announces.

...a pause of 120hrs, after which a permanent ceasefire (or sanctions).

It was as a result of his 'man to man' (such a macho phrase imo) phone conversation that kicked all this off in the first place. Forwarding a letter sent from the former allies you have just abandoned to the person attacking them now is not quite what a consider 'Statesmanship' ? For me the idea that the USA should not involve itself in foreign conflicts is one I support but such is a reversal of 100s of years of consistent US foreign policy. Nor do I trust Trump is sincere in this regard either. I think he will support such a renouncement of using US hard power around the world when he thinks it is expedient and support it when he thinks that is expedient.

With kurdish forces withdrawing from the area, which looks like a win for Turkey to me ? It gets its buffer zone and deals a blow to semi autonomous Kurdish state on its border ? Not sure how Assad and the Russians are going to react however ?

I wouldn’t go as far as saying that Turkey will be claiming victory for the buffer zone to be established since now Russian and Assad forces are in the north, which by all likelihood will take over from the YPG. Earlier today Putin was giving promises to Erdogan that the Kurdish fighters will not be at the Turkish border with Syria. This again seem to be a coordinated move by the Americans and the Russians to prevent Turkey establishing permanent foothold in NE Syria. They both seem to be yanking Erdogan’s chain!

By all indications Erdogan will walk away empty handed from this deal, which will be a political defeat for him. First Trump gives Erdogan the green light to go into Syria and as Erdogan hesitates to do just that, Trump sends an insulting letter to Erdogan almost daring him to go into Syria knowing full well Erdogan would react to show his manhood, so he goes into Syria all guns blazing to be told by the Americans to halt his fire and the Russians and Assad forces take over from the YPG. As soon as Erdogan realizes that he has been double crossed both by Russia and the Americans, he might just blow a fuse and start a full scale war in Syria with whomever is in his way. He is the kind of a man to take such a bait. If he does, it will be fireworks for his forces in the deserts of Syria as the airspace is closed for him.

The wheels of justice turn slowly, but grind exceedingly fine.

Erdogan was probably told [by pence & pompeo] in no uncertain terms that if he continues, Turkey will be destroyed.

it was only a couple of days ago that he was belching about how no world power can stop Turkeys offensive, there wouldn't be a ceasefire, blah blah blah.

Throwing trumps letter in the bin.......

Well, look what has happened just a few days later. There is a ceasefire and Turkey's (Endorgans) offensive has stopped.

You better hope the fool doesn't use this to make any further advances and actually starts to withdraw.

The Turks better do something to get rid of him and then normalize their relations with their neighbors. the alternative is ruin.

But what do I know, Im just another commentator.
