The west has been trying to get Turkey into Syrian war for the longest time just so to break Turkey up in the progress to solve several other problems in the area where Turkey is involved, but Turkey has not taken the bait yet. Perhaps they will now, and if they do, God help them as what is awaiting for them.

Turkey will get smashed by Russia and the US will think twice.

Israel has nothing to gain and are just going to sit tight.

Syria's best deterrent is its Airforce and Air Defence Systems. Wouldn't be very easy for Israel. The Israelis would end up fighting the regime, and the FSA who hate Israel with passion. Too much of a gamble.

On the contrary. Chemical weapons were never a deterrent against invasion; and now they are out of the equation, it is Turkey that has to find something else with which to stir things up.

Besides, Syria is now more powerful than ever. We know Russia will stand up for Syria. Their alliance is now proven.

They were not going to stand up for Syria if the US attacked!

I think you underestimate Russian/US friendship and cooperation. The 2 countries are actually quite close and Russia did try very hard to broker deal.

Russia is also trying to join NATO. Cold war is long gone.

I wouldnt call the Russians a deterent for an attack on Syria,by the Americans, rather the Russias could have their own "Sunni" spring in their own back yard, if Assad falls from power...As for chemical weapons, theres one less weapon in Syria's arsenal to worry about..

Being member of the partnership for peace doesn't equate trying to get into NATO. It just helps Russia to have friendly ties with the U.S.A when convenient.

You’ve got the typical American BOLLOCKS stance!

2 years from now they’ll still be arguing over the content of this resolution/agreement because that was Russia’s plan in the first place… remove the immediate threat to Syria and then bog down in red tape.

Russia can always count on America making ridiculous demands that nobody will ever accept but by the time each point is discussed and negotiated... TIME (not America) will be the only determinant of the Syrian situation.

I don't agree. Turkey routinely invades other countries for expansionist reasons (contextually, 1938, Turkey invades Alexandretta). About every 4 decades? It does not need anyone's encouragement. Although, it waits for the opportunity, helping progress any opportunity with false flags and well-proven subversive techniques. It then strikes when it is given the go-ahead that it will not meet resistance ...

...indeed, Erdogan needs something juicy for the elections next year, and it is pretty clear right now that he needs something more than a little bluster with Cyprus to escape the criticism he will get for the economy, etc., in that debate. war (somewhere) is always a useful election tool...
