An opinion piece relevant to the thread if you read it as it references the politics around the Oil/Gas fields in the Levant.

Foreign Policy for Sale: Greece’s Dangerous Alliance with Israel By Ramzy Baroud

For a brief historical moment, Alexis Tsipras and his political party, Syriza, ignited hope that Greece could resurrect a long-dormant Leftist tide in Europe.

A new Greece was being born out of the pangs of pain of economic austerity, imposed by the European Union and its overpowering economic institutions – a troika so ruthless, it cared little while the Greek economy collapsed and millions of people experienced the bitterness of poverty, unemployment and despair.

The Coalition of the Radical Left (Syriza) came to power in January 2015 as a direct outcome of popular discontent with the EU. It was a time where ordinary people took a stance to fend for whatever semblance of sovereignty that was not wrestled away from them by politicians, bankers and powerful bureaucratic institutions.

The result, however, was quite disappointing. Tsipras, now a Prime Minister, transformed his political discourse, and gradually adopted one that that is more consistent with the very neoliberal policies that pushed his country to its knees in the first place.

And the connection with Israel is? :?

Greece's alliance with Israel has been the best thing that has ever happened to Greece.

But you see, even with a leftist Government, Greece is still a staunch EU and NATO member!

If you read the article you would see the '.......the connection with Israel' because that is basically what the article is all about.

Do you have any credible links to support your' .... best thing that ever happened to Greece' opinion? :?:

If you had read the article you would see that the criticism is that Tsipras is no longer a 'leftie' but a puppet of The Troika ..... the same Troika that crushed the Greek economy and ruined the lives of millions of Greeks.

Look, I got a Security Clearance and can't get caught opening stupid links so need to rely on the likes of compromised individuals.

Yes I do have lots of links. I will begin with the links that show you the IAF F-16s and F-15s flying over your house. Also the pipeline to EU.

Are you referring to the Turkish blockade of the Italian ENI Rig.

I think it is a bit too early to jump to conclusions. It will be interesting to see whether the Rig eventually gets to its destination or not in the coming days.

Also, I think at this early point, it is better to try and exhaust all diplomatic avenues before everyone goes off the deep end and send their warships. That is the smart thing to do.

After, then the Italian navy can perhaps send in a warship of their own to escort the rig into position.

The real big test will be when the Americans and Israeli's send in their Rigs. Noble has already got their platforms in place so this might be unique to Italy as maybe the Turks consider the Italians to be a more soft and realistic target to make a point.

It's time to assess not send in warships. No one knows what they are dealing with yet.

There is no need for any navies. If Turkey does something that harms EU interests then EU can cripple Turkey with embargoes. EU is just slow to react trying all other methods first... but sooner than later Turkey will allow the drilling or face consequences.
