Anyway,

Lordo is saying what is wrong with returning this 3% now to help peace, instead of after a solution is found with Turkey and the TC's.

How does this help peace when we have Turkey continuing to encroach CY and makes threats and the TC's insist on the unreasonable and unrealistic?

How is this linked to Anastasiadis not wanting peace?

Its barmy thinking.

That’s what I’m interested in and not what Lordo may consider a CyProb solution in his head...

There are no BREXIT arrangements with regard to the SBAs and there are no arrangements with regard to Gibraltar, or Ireland.

BREXIT has nothing to do with the SBAs as these were part of a 1959 Treaty with Cyprus.

It is just all scaremongering on the local British political scene between the Government, the opposition and other pro BREXIT forces.

The world has changed since 1959 Paphitis… there are complex issues these days as a result of EU membership with respect to residence, employment, ownership, business, transactions, relationships, etc. To name a few.

It has, but the Brits are gonna laugh at Anastasiades if he even tries to couple BREXIT with SBAs. The Brits will not go there. They won't discuss it.

NATO will not allow for it either. Plus the Brits have to consult the other 4 eyes before doing such a thing and they are not going to be receptive to this.

They are going to want Akrotiri and the Spy Station.

WTF you talking about re Paphiti… :?

There is a legal obligation to address all such issues in Brexit!

Look, never mind… I’m just talking to the wrong, clueless non-EU people!

Catch you people later…

There really isn't any legal obligations on Britain to do anything other than abide by the terms of the 1959 agreement.

Britain doesn't need to do anything but if Cyprus feels differently, they are able to raise it with the Brits.

Just expect a lot of peculiar looks.

There really are no socio-economic issues that are going to affect the Brits over Gibraltar and other bases like the SBAs.

If anything, Britain is getting stronger and more nationalistic and that is not good when it comes to the SBAs and Gibraltar.

The Brits will not negotiate on the status of the SBAs. They might give a piece back but they will checkmate you by offering a piece to the TC community too, which means they got you by the balls.
