Your OP started out as an anti-Tory post - before you got into the nitty-gritty details. S.T.U.D and I pointed out that, actually, it was a Labour Government which laid the foundations for HS2, at the beginning of 2009. They set up HS2 Ltd and had them cross consult with the DfT and Network rail on the project. So, to be fair, it’s really been a multi-party cockup. :D

clearly you know nothing about project management. labour did not set up the feasability study. learn project management and make a relevan post. of the 7 billion spent so far how much did labour pay and how much did the tories pay.

do you know how much it costs to set up a company?
have you ever set one up?

multi-party cockup my codlings.

Well, a bit, but that’s another story.

I take your word for it.

Don’t know.

Nope.

Nope.

None of which alters the fact that when you said “This Tory Government started planning HS2..........” you were wrong.

your last comment stems from your ignorance of project management. you think setting up the company is part of planning. do you even know what planning means to project management.

You thought you were having a dig at the Tories, not realizing that they inherited HS2 from the Labour party. It seemed only fair to point that fact out.

I’ll get my eyes checked when you learn how to write correct English. Ohh wait, I forgot to add..............ffs

if the search for construction companies started in 2017 what was the government doing since 2010 if labour planned it all before 2010. you cannot make it up. read and lern boy, read and lern. you are going to blame this labour?

Nah, I'm sure Labour are completely blameless...

if indeed it is true, they got off lightly. 150,000 compared to 7 000 000 000 spent so far.
not bad.

you need to find some more. what about the rest

Jobs...?

HS2 reaches 9,000 jobs

9,000 jobs around the UK are now supported by the delivery of HS2, as work is well underway across 250 work sites
Over 30,000 jobs will be supported by the programme at peak construction
Over 320 of the 2,000 expected apprentices are already on board
2,000 business have provided work for HS2, 98% of which are British

But, but, but...

here is a leaflet in the 2012 labour converance for hs2.
no business case
no evironmental case
and no money to pay for it

better alternatives for the environment
better alternatives for jobs
Better alternatives for speed
Better alternatives for capacity
Better alternatives for the future

now this is very interesting.
West Coast Mainline.
this kind of solution is relatively low cost (£2bn not £33bn) and incremental, therefore low risk
And it generates over £5 of benefit for every £1 invested
whereas HS2
is all or nothing and comparison,
HS2 costs exceed all calculated benefits.

so who carried it out and who exactly decided to approve the feasability study then?
and the final question, how much was in the brown suitcase in small untraceble bills.

Don't let facts get in the way of an anti-Tory rant... It was probably all Thatcher's fault...

You know, for the last 10 or so years these "lefties" have provided so much entertainment. They still do not get it that they are disengaged from the mainstream and do not represent the common man on the street anymore.

It is actually mind boggling and extremely funny how dumb they have become as little drones of the MSM BBC and long may it continue to the 2020 US Elections and beyond.
