...indeed the so called TRNC will become a "country" full of mosques, brothels, and casinos; with scenic views reminiscent of days gone by, before the Modern Age.

"North" Cyprus is already a place for cronies and corruption, and for Turkey's ruling class, as such, it is a loadstone.

Erdogan is responsible for the mosques, but the rest is the responsibility of the RoC. If embargoes have not worked since 1963, what makes them think they will work now or in the future?

Pure stupidity.

All it is doing is pushing the north closer to Turkey.
There was an old man who got on a train and as the train started to move, he threw his glove out of the window. Another passenger asked him why he threw one of his gloves out of the window. The old man explained " I dropped my other glove on the platform, at least the person who finds it, will have the other one too. One each is not good for either of us."

...indeed.

It would be useful for example if Hotels in the occupied territories that are Cypriot owned and operated were listed among the Republic's register of Hotels. Tourist could make this choice when visiting there more easily.

It would be useful if the Republic rated Schools island-wide, giving credibility to learning facilities that deserve it, thus exposing to local and foreign students the dubious among them.

...incentives for local intercommunal trade for example; branding, as in 'Buy Cyprus' labels on shopfronts and products: such advertising on a service or a good makes this choice an easier choice.

The embargoes are meant to hurt the "Turks"; you are right, Turkish Cypriots suffer from this because Greek Cypriots have not as yet taken to joining them in their fight against "Turkishness".

''The coalition partners in the TRNC, the National Unity Party, the Democrat Party and the Rebirth Party will participate in the elections as a full alliance.''

...united are the ''Turks''.

Interesting day today. A glass of zivaniya, chunks of lamb on the mangal and amongst old friends. I took a few friends to the polling booth, did my duty and all that.

Some preliminary results indicate that once again voters in the occupied territories are split as they are elsewhere in Cyprus, rather evenly between Cypriots and those who want to see themselves differently.

The Republican Turkish Party was leading in local elections Sunday in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), with seven of its mayoral candidates winning.

According to unofficial results, six of the National Unity Party’s candidates and three independent candidates also won while the Democrat Party and Communal Democracy Party each secured a mayoral seat.

The three right wing parties united and attempted to maximize their vote to drive CTP out but they lost a fair number of their councils. UBP lost Girne and Magusa and also was unable to win Lefkosha. This was a good night for CTP and TDP (Akinci's party). Arikli said this was a warning from the people.

This is a slap across the face of Erdogan.

Also the new mayor of Famagusta declared publicly he is against opening of Varoshia for colonization. So he is against Tatars/Turkeys plans.
I also heard CTP+TDP got the most important 5 municipalities . How many municipalities are there in total??
Lets hope this gets repeated in next Presidential elections plus the parliamentary ones. If this happens the possibility of solving the CP will skyrocket.
