Trump is elated from his acquittal, "...we have only just begun.", he says.

...it makes me wonder how men like McConnell sleep at night.

Paphitis, you need to learn the difference between an Impeachment and a conviction/acquittal.

Trump has been Impeached twice, done and dusted and cannot be cancelled.

Conviction or acquittal is the second stage of Impeachment after a trial.

Acquittal does not negate/nullify Impeachment.

I just heard that now witnesses will be called, therefore, the trial continues.

Oh right Kikapu! As I said. It’s meaningless.

Like when someone is charged and acquitted. The impeachment is a nothing burger.

No, it is not the same. This is only valid in the court of law. Trump has been impeached 2 times which is a reflection on the man as a major fuck up of a President and that is how history will judge him. :D

With the acquittal of Trump as predicted from day one, the Democrats win in two ways.

1. Trump is Impeached and tried where it will be written in history books and will be judged again by the public opinion. All reasonable people will accept Trump’s guilt with all the evidence presented.

2. The majority of the Banana Republican Party will be seen as co conspirators with Trump and will pay the price at the ballot box. They may have been spared by Trump by voting to acquittal, the pussies that they are, but most will not escape the power of the people.

No doubt Trump will have many lawsuits against him as a private person, and if there are any trials by jury, there will be some jurists who will vote to convict Trump as a “payback” for his unjust acquittal from his Impeachment trial. Just think of OJ Simpson when he was tried the second time in Las Vegas and found guilty with prison sentence.

Ultimately, none of all this stuff you're posting will matter.

Left alone and ignored, a genuine spirit of reconciliation engendered (unity?) Trump would have most likely wandered off into the wilderness, growing ever more pathetic. You guys are a small example of what's happening though. Instead, you're keeping the man alive and worse, actually elevating him to martyrdom . That, on the basis of the pursuit of some sort of fleeting and gloatingly gratuitous revenge.

Similarly, you're making the same mistake. (I again apologise for cross-pollinating posts). In the long-lasting Brexit war Remainers on Social Media were absolutely convinced they had it in the bag. The consensus was clearly overwhelmingly in favour of reversing the referendum result. Apparently, millions had been persuaded of their earlier folly. Then, on December 12th 2019, reality struck.

You're mistaking Social Media traffic and MSM articles, supporting your opinions, as being an accurate reflection of the (much) wider view. Hubris.

Trump will quite possibly come back to haunt you. That, for the same reason he was elected in 2016. I suspect it could happen with a vengeance. Meanwhile, enjoy what I suspect will be your moment in the sun.

Your's truly.......................... Cassandra. I believe, cursed by the Gods with the gift of knowing the future but having nobody ever believe her.

Just by keeping Trump’s name alive does not make him a martyr. We keep Putins name alive, so how much of martyrdom is he. Hitler is still mentioned in books, movies and documentaries all the time. Is he a martyr?

I would welcome Trump to come back to politics. He is the best thing that happened to the Democratic Party. Assuming Trump is not in jail that is, then the DP will be upset. :D

...given the presentations, the issues raised, it is hard to dismiss the facts involved; either way the decision will be representing a moment of great historical importance, to all Americans.

57-43 the vote; acquitted.

...it is now up to the voters, once again to decide who will get re-elected. We may see such insurrections again since incitement remains undefined. Justice, and its process, i think, have been damaged, along with its credibility.

Mitch McConnell speaks most strongly after the decision, and speaks well, against Trump's acts. Yet, Impeachment, conviction thereof remains a very narrow path, a former office holder cannot be convicted, no longer in office.

There is no evidence good enough to incriminate.

All they are saying is that Trump said to a Senator, well it looks like the a more angry about the election steal than you are Senator”

As if to denote he endorsed the action at Capitol Hill.

Fact is there is no court in any civilised country that will draw such a long bow on such hearsay.

The Democrats have no evidence and no smoking gun.

Sorry it is the same.

Trump was found innocent. The Democrats were unable to prove or present enough evidence to convince enough Senators to continue with the impeachment. As such justice has been served.

Now it’s tome to begin planning the long road to 2022 and 2024.

I believe politicians, whilst pro liars, also hold the best interests of the country at heart.

Capitol Hill is a fundamental institution of the USA. It’s the very foundation of the USA or the cornerstone. Any attack against Capitol Hill is an attack against America. No one can condone or accept such a travesty against the country.

But to say Trump instigated it is beyond the pale and hence the impeachment is now dead.

Better luck next time.
