Why are you preoccupied with Erdogan. Ask yourself a simple question, why has the Afghan army simply moved out and let the Taliban in.

Interesting question that. Although remember that the TCs were also squashed in 2.5% (this will annoy DT to no end) of Cyprus, in the meantime Turkish deep state went about its business to hold on to the 2.5% and waited for the GCs to commit suicide by trying to take the rest. The rest is history.

But for the Army not to defend their country which are 300,000 strong against 70,000 strong Taliban, they have to be very unhappy with the government not to fightand I suspect they were not paid.

Here is another very interesting fact.

In the presidential elections in 2019:
1. The turnout was a historical low, where only around 1.6 million showed up to vote
2. There are only 9.7 million registered voters
3. The population is 39 Million.
4. Ghani got 923,592 votes to become president.

So the Yanks put a puppet there where he will do as he is told and now they have cut and run.

But of course Trump did the real dirty deed before he left office. He had a meeting with the Taliban in Doha where Taliban agreed that if America withdraws they will not take the country by force and Trump released all the Taliban prisoners. And he was stupid enough to believe the Taliban that they would not attack after american withdrawls.

As to Erdogan, he will probaply also cut a deal with the Taliban and take a cut of the opium trade. It is a win win for all except the western alliance. It now means that they will train people and send them into the west to do their worst.

You cannot make it up.

...let's not forget the original mission, which succeeded in denying Al Qaeda use of Afghani territory in less than two years.

The failure is America's efforts at Nation building; perhaps, at that point they should not have counted on the military with a mission they are/were not trained for.

...if the US is to learn something from this horrible defeat this is it.

I do love a good dictator. There he is sitting at his desk surrounded by AK47s. Clearly he is feeling very secure.

Sure he feels safe. He now controls whole of Afghanistan and much sooner than most expected until another delusional power comes along in the future to try their luck with the Taliban.

So how come he feels the need to have the gunmen right next to his desk? Clearly he is worried.

Look at what happened to Lincoln, Gandhi, Sadat, Kennedy(s), Jesse James and et al.

There’s always someone who would try to take down a “big game”!
