Answer - because he says the "right" things.

It's not only Ritter it's also MacGregor, Tony Shaffer, Ray McGovern, Phil Giraldi and many others.
All have military experience and are able to analyze things and information publicly available, while MacGregor also discusses/gets information from ex colleagues, in a much better way than anyone else.I personally often miss the significance of publicly available information, as for example the agony in Stoltenberg's speech about Ukraine consuming much more shells per day that what the West can produce. These people analyze everything and they are spot on.

I personally also watch pro Ukrainian analysts like Jack Divine and a guy called "Matt VanDyke" here:
https://www.youtube.com/@judgenapolitano-judgingfre7226.
Ther ARE NOT SAYING what I want to hear. Jack Divine is not credible at all imo, he just changed his tune that Russia will lose this war to that the war will go on for many years. He just recently said this war is NOT about Ukraine, and that's the only thing I ever agreed with him. I posted a link very recently.

See I am trying to educate myself instead of reading the Guardian all day.

Now on your initial and your current comments regarding the Deputy mayor of Bakhmut, regarding what he said while residing in Kiev and been paid by the Kiev regime to say , (using American taxpayers money of course) my decision was and still is that they don't worth wasting my time. Sorry.

Well, perhaps you might admit - the thread's livened up a bit this evening. Previously, very little for days. Apart from the odd "broadcast" that is. Not too much Ad Hominem either (I don't include Lordo - he has it coming).

But, who are all those guys and - again - where do they get their information? I doubt any of them are in Ukraine. The MSM that have people reporting from there are treated with disdain. Yet, people sitting in the comfort of their homes in the West collating and posting stuff they've trawled from the net - just like us - are it seems fountains of "the real truth".

Having "military experience" IMHO, with regard to forums, is a definite disadvantage. Nobody wants to know - unless you (again) say the "right" things. You just become a target for ridicule. "Brain washed". "Can't think outside the box". Blah, blah.

I don't read the Guardian all day. I try to get a cross-opinion view. Actually, just like you and Kicks, I read quite a lot. Even your stuff. I don't tend to post links. I can't see the point. You guys are not really interested.

You keep posting stuff from this Warnews247. A site you favour. Come on though. I'm looking at 20+ articles and just about all of them are anti-West (a few discuss Turkey). What credibility does that convey? The truth is you like what they have to say - because it suits your particular agenda. The reality - they are no more likely to convey the truth than - well - the Guardian (sorry to do the memory thing but - you've linked to it in the past) .

I have this, probably naïve, view that the Deputy Mayor of Bakhmut, sitting in Kiev, has a far better idea of what's happening in his town than the entirety of people quoted as being experts on the battle here.

Well, thanks for all the responses. Time to call it a night here.

You'd better check the radar for any incoming Paphitis. 8)

...i like providing links, and i imagine that at least some are as interesting for you.

the point is, we can do no more than keep current, and in that regard provide our readers the content they may need in evaluating the issue(s) for themselves.

...indeed there are disagreements among us, over our own frailties and the facts, but we care; this is a good thing.

...indeed, boring is what "They" do, a dogma, the struggle for its supremacy over all others. Clarity can be a dangerous thing when the harmony of many tones is silenced.

Only VanDyke (pro Ukrainian) is in Ukraine and even he, is training Ukrainians in Kiev far away from the battlefield. I already explained what the value of their analysis is.

The MSM that have people reporting from there are treated with disdain.
You must be joking really. The vast majority of western MSM journalists report from hotels in Kiev, whatever the ZelenSKY regime tells them. They report nothing of the Russian controlled territories.
The Russian MSM on the other hand report everything from their own side. Similar bias, you will often hear them saying that the Ukrainians shell Donesk neighborhoods indiscriminately.
The one and only who reports from near the frontlines is Patric Lancaster (pro Russian)

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... Lancaster+

Yet, people sitting in the comfort of their homes in the West collating and posting stuff they've trawled from the net - just like us - are it seems fountains of "the real truth".

Wrong! I already explained what the value of their analysis is. Everybody with enough brains may listen to them and judge for himself. I already provided you links to watch any of the persons I mentioned including pro Ukrainian ones. JUDGE FOR YOURSELF. And it's not only them there others who analyse the situation on the ground. The Ukrainian pilot "analyzer" that Paphitis posts all the time is good only for laughs.

Having "military experience" IMHO, with regard to forums, is a definite disadvantage. Nobody wants to know - unless you (again) say the "right" things. You just become a target for ridicule. "Brain washed". "Can't think outside the box". Blah, blah.

I don't agree. Especially when that military experience comes from Colonels like MacGregor and MacGovern.

I don't read the Guardian all day. I try to get a cross-opinion view. Actually, just like you and Kicks, I read quite a lot. Even your stuff. I don't tend to post links. I can't see the point. You guys are not really interested.

How would you know without doing it? I actually provide links to about 1/30th of what I read, and only when I judge it's worth the info.

You keep posting stuff from this Warnews247. A site you favour. Come on though. I'm looking at 20+ articles and just about all of them are anti-West (a few discuss Turkey). The reality - they are no more likely to convey the truth than - well - the Guardian (sorry to do the memory thing but - you've linked to it in the past) .

I still have my own opinion about Warnews247. It's generally pro-Russian and exaggerates a lot on everything even when the Ukrainians have success. I even told that to the great man. But it's in Greek and I can read it fast. I provide links from Twitter, Telegram and other sources. Paphitis admits the maps I provide from Rybar are the most reliable.
The problem with this war is that the vast majority of what the pro Ukrainian outlets report is all lies. The totality of Western MSM is all disinformation and distortion. The Russian official media don't say a word!
So personally I would totally be in the dark, unless I had chosen some independent media to follow, always filtering out the content for myself.

I have this, probably naïve, view that the Deputy Mayor of Bakhmut, sitting in Kiev, has a far better idea of what's happening in his town than the entirety of people quoted as being experts on the battle here.

And I have the opinion that soldiers on the ground reporting directly to Telegram channels , are far better than a "mayor" who is living 1000Km away from his town, still getting paid a salary without doing anything, other than saying what the ones who pay him, allow him to say.

...timing is everything. I am not sure i'd agree with Mr. Ritter's predictions, but it's true, suddenly, Bakhmut appears to be more important than originally described.

...missiles, drones, and tanks, there are a lot of manufacturers who are learning from their weapons' use, talking about the "Russian" superiority; neither can you discount Ukrainians themselves, despite what the civilian population is suffering they are willing to live underground, they are resourceful too.

...smug, that's the word i was looking for, trying to describe these two.

Described by who? It's only Paphitis regurgitating Ukrainian and Western lies (in an effort to portray the Russians as idiots) who was claiming that Bakhmout is of no strategic value imish.

After posting over 219 thousand posts here and estemmed member of our group wishes to know if Russia ia breaking International law in intervening in Ukraine to stop the fascists killing innocent civilians and oppressing them?

Any takers on this cause anything I tell him will go though one ear and come out the other with no gateway. If anything it will pick up speed so it will actually go out quicker than it went in.

Fuckin hell maaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiin.
