Medvedev, is a very short man (shorter than Putin) and with an even shorter fuse!

The West; and indeed the whole planet, is extremely lucky that he was not in power at the start or during the course of the Ukrainian conflict.

There’s no question that Medvedev would not hesitate to nuke all enemies to kingdom come... for he neither has the patience nor the tolerance for the West’s provocations and stupidities.

The only reason the West played games against Russia was because they felt comfortable while the softie Putin was in power… but of course Putin won’t be around forever!

So, there’s a short-assed Russian at No 2 (your hero it seems) who’s only being stopped from destroying humanity by another at No 1?

I got the impression when Medvedev took over the Presidency in 2008 - enabling Putin to circumvent the then 2 term Constitutional limit (now gotten rid of) - that he acted as the man’s puppet. IIRC, at the time he was painted as being more “liberal” than Putin. A bit like saying Himmler was a leftie compared to Hitler.

The idea (one you seem to relish for some reason ) that everybody better watch out, or a single individual in the Kremlin is going to blow up the world, ain’t gonna happen. They don’t call it Mutual Assured Destruction for nothing. With people like Putin and Medvedev it’s all about the continuing exercise of personal power.

Putin, Medvedev and Lavrov, plus a few regime favoured extreme nutters, have been issuing nuclear threats regularly since the first week of the Ukrainian invasion. Veiled or direct. Knowing full well that the first use of any nuke, particularly against a nation which doesn’t posses any, would precipitate game over for them.

Putin and Medvedev have clearly been playing good nuclear cop/bad nuclear cop for 3 years. To the point where you could almost issue a timetable of when and from who the next one’s due. The boy who cried (nuclear) Wolf.

It looks like Cyprus would remain clear of it. Well, perhaps not the radiation or - of course - the starvation aspect.

I like to think even Mr Medvedev isn't (really) so stupid.

How about instead we all just learn to get along?
