Sidenote on HIMARS...

I’ve read that the American HIMARS is very accurate and thus lethal, but it has the disadvantage of giving away its location too easily.

It leaves a very visible/detectable “footprint” after being fired and takes too long to pack and go, giving the enemy; with the right equipment, the ability to easily locate and take it out.

HIMARS are treated as a priority by the Russians who have the technology to locate them once they’ve been fired, so they don’t last too long on the battlefield.

When you consider their considerable expense (compared to other alternatives) they’re not a good choice of weapon if your enemy is also technologically advanced.

Many US weapons are complex, sophisticated and expensive but designed to operate against inferior opponents who cannot jam or detect them early enough to cause damage.

This is the main reason the Ukrainians often complain about some of the more high-tech stuff sent by the Americans… they’d much rather older, easier to use, and less traceable equipment.

Nicosian. (Transferred from the Gaza thread.)

Get Real! wrote:Londoner,

Cruelty between two opposing armies on a level playing field is one thing, and blatant war crimes against 3rd world unarmed and defenseless CIVILIANS is quite another!

The former we call badly behaved soldiers and the latter we call cowards!

What you see below (your posts and comment) isn't "badly behaved soldiers", it's the cold blooded murder of unarmed prisoners of war and - by your reckoning - a standard Russian practice.

Get Real! wrote:There’s an unwritten “take no prisoners” rule for captured Ukrainians on Russian territories like the Kursk or Belgorod regions.

Here we see one such execution.

It puts your sneering comments about the chosen BBC article and the Russian Forces' so-called valour and bravery in context.

The BBC article is about an ongoing investigation regarding alleged UK SF atrocities in the past. I put it to you, the idea there would be a similar event in Russia, investigating all the way up to what Putin knew about it and splashed all over the main Russian news is absolutely absurd but typical of the double standards you routinely employ in your worship of all things Russian. Rather, you post videos of such actions (real, not alleged) on their part with relish and approval.

Regardless, you really shouldn't pick and choose which articles from Western sources suit you, whilst condemning anything that doesn't as corrupt, criminal, lying trash. I understand - you have to cover the possibility that somebody might be tempted to post something from a non-Russian source, making it clear that only articles from the Western MSM you approve of are to be acceptable. Better perhaps though to stick to your normal MO of swallowing and regurgitating absolutely anything (no matter how patently ridiculous) which emanates from Russian State controlled media.

This thread stopped being a reasonable and rational discussion/record of events regarding the Ukrainian war some time ago. Instead it's become a bellicose, often ranting organ of Russian propaganda.

Meantime - we're 39 months into a war between the Russian "superpower" and a relatively much smaller place called Ukraine. At which point they haven't even taken all of the Russian speaking bits. Their famous high-tech armaments industry you almost daily boast about has seen the country having to buy weapons and parts from the likes of NK/Iran/China. That, whilst exhausting their convict population and importing thousands of NK troops to make up for manpower losses.

And today - day 1130 of the "Special Military Operation" - the wonderful news of Russia's achievements are................................... as has always been the theme of your daily posts about the entirely avoidable tragedy in Ukraine and its million + dead

You can never convince me that executing a captured uniformed opponent is at the same criminal level as executing unarmed civilians!

That’s the very crux of the problem… some Brits and Americans in uniform see it as the same thing and are happy to commit atrocities against civilians, but most of the rest of the world does not!

So you need to raise your standards mate! :(

Fidias, (the young euromep they consider a bit of a joker) has gradually evolved into the only grownup in Cyprus politics…

Having made his way to Moscow for the parade, he reminds the Cypriot public about our common religious and moral values with Russia among other things.

Short brutal videos…

Due to manpower shortages; even after all the civilian kidnappings, the Ukraine has begun to transfer non combatants (ie aircraft engineers) to the front as infantry.

As a result, their military is in a crisis with all sorts of strange things transpiring such as the following incident:

Ukrainians beat up a comrade forcing him to sign the paperwork requesting to be sent to the front!
https://alivegore.com/uploads/files/202 ... s_cxed.mp4

A Ukrainian soldier commits suicide in the barracks forgetting to set his rifle to semi!
https://alivegore.com/uploads/files/202 ... 24_dfg.mp4

A Russian soldier creeps up on Ukrainians lying in a trench from the rear, calling out for them to surrender but they hesitate too much leading to their deaths…
https://alivegore.com/uploads/files/202 ... 719_16.mp4

The Ukrainian kidnapping squads are only allowed to operate on the streets so some men have chosen to remain home and have food delivered by friends as the kidnapping squad watches on…
