A large-scale 1,000-for-1,000 prisoner exchange was agreed upon during Russia-Ukraine talks held in Istanbul on May 16, but a little problem has surfaced…

The last time I researched this matter Russia had over 16,000 Ukrainian POWs and that was like 2-3 months ago!

So it looks like the 16K are stuck in POW camps for as long as this war drags on… which is probably a blessing for them because at least they’ll be going home one day, unlike countless comrades who perished in Zelensky's trenches of doom.

If I was Vladimir Putin here’s what I would announce in the international media…

“In a gesture of goodwill, Russia is ready to release 16,000 Ukrainian POWs so that they may return to their families… under the condition that the Ukrainian government signs a piece of paper for each POW that they will not be required to serve the military again for the next three years.”

The international community would expect Zelensky to immediately snap up such a generous proposal, but as we all know he is so hungry for more troops to throw in the trenches that he will screw up either by flatly rejecting the proposal or violating it!

Either way it’s a win-win for Russia as thousands of Ukrainian citizens would take to the streets protesting Zelensky’s folly that may lead to his downfall.

I forgot to mention that releasing so many POWs would not only be a huge international humanitarian PR win for Russia, but it would also be financially beneficial as it would relieve the Russian economy from the huge expense of feeding, clothing and guarding so many people.

Ahh - my mistake. It just applies to Ukrainian soldiers captured on Russian territory. I appreciate you now apparently have a phantom army of silent followers to think of but - not really "rubbish" though.

These men weren't executed. That implies due process. Some sort of hearing, sentencing, a firing squad. They were just unarmed prisoners lying on the ground who had a few rounds gratuitously pumped into them. They were murdered and any indignant talk relating to other matters about war crimes, bravery or valour I suggest should be viewed in that context.
