The phrase "squeaky bum time" was popularized by Sir Alex Ferguson during the late 2000s, particularly in the context of football.

I don’t know about Alex, but our version means:

“Sas ton kolon sou tzie erkoume!”

Tonight’s results…

AC Omonia  0-1  Mainz 05

AEK Larnaca  4-0  AZ Alkmaar

The first match was incredibly boring and decided by a penalty.

The second match was decided by a red card received by the Dutch at the 2nd minute, who then went on to lose pretty badly.

I’m confident that AEK would’ve beaten them even without the red card.

on the BBC sport it does not say why he was sent off. If it was really a dangerous tackle, I cannot understand how any player would do such a thing especially at the beginning of the game and reduce the team to 10 men. Some of those fans must have paid a fortune to get to the game, what a way to treat them.

This happened to Arsenal in the final of CL against Barcelona in 2006. The Jens Lehmann dived, did not get the ball, the attacking player did the usual thing and dragged his foot to catch him and off he went. Reduced to 10 men we scored first even with 10 men but then lost the final 2-1.

In another game 2011, Van Persie kicked the ball also against Barcelona and claimed he did not hear the whistle but the referee decided that he did hear it and gave him a second yellow and sent him off too. Don't tell me there is no bias or even corruption in football.

You can only blame the coach for not warning his players that some refs are very strict in European games; they should keep track of refs and their temperament, this one in particular was one of the strictest I’ve ever seen... he was handing out cards like party invitations!

Here are the highlights…

It seems it is not available over here. I will watch it when I am in Cyprus.

For those not familiar with the Scorpions’ rock ballads here’s a good starter list.

When it comes to this band half the story is told by front-man Klaus Meine with his unique engaging voice, while the other half is told by the guitars so pay attention whenever Klaus goes silent.

Minutes ago...

Crystal Palace 0-1 AEK Larnaca

An historic night as AEK Larnaca is the first Cypriot team to beat an English team in football! :)

Out of 21 past encounters between Cypriot and English teams in European competitions there are three draws, 17 defeats, and tonight’s win in Selhurst Park.

Draws from the past include…

Anorthosis 1-1 Tottenham
Chelsea 2-2 APOEL
Everton 2-2 Apollon

What a result we had with Atletico Madrid. Who would have guessed it 4 - 0

Another great result for a Cypriot team in the Champions League...

Pafos 1 – 0 Villarreal

Should’ve been 2-0 for a clear penalty not given.

Highlights...

NB: The goal at 1:05 and what should’ve been a penalty at 2:47.
