The first match was incredibly boring and decided by a penalty.
The second match was decided by a red card received by the Dutch at the 2nd minute, who then went on to lose pretty badly.
I’m confident that AEK would’ve beaten them even without the red card.
on the BBC sport it does not say why he was sent off. If it was really a dangerous tackle, I cannot understand how any player would do such a thing especially at the beginning of the game and reduce the team to 10 men. Some of those fans must have paid a fortune to get to the game, what a way to treat them.
This happened to Arsenal in the final of CL against Barcelona in 2006. The Jens Lehmann dived, did not get the ball, the attacking player did the usual thing and dragged his foot to catch him and off he went. Reduced to 10 men we scored first even with 10 men but then lost the final 2-1.
In another game 2011, Van Persie kicked the ball also against Barcelona and claimed he did not hear the whistle but the referee decided that he did hear it and gave him a second yellow and sent him off too. Don't tell me there is no bias or even corruption in football.
