Paphos vs Bayern Munich

Champions League match odds:

Paphos 5% Draw 11% Bayern 84%

17.00 7.50 1.14

Laughable odds for a home game, eh? :)

To be played on the 30th of Sep at the new Limassol stadium “Alphamega” with a capacity of just 11 thousand, where the 8,000 odd Pafians expected to attend, will be pretty loud in such a small arena!

Paphos, is unbeaten in all its European matches this year… I think they’ve played 7-8 so far, and they’ve already seen off clubs like...

Maccabi Tel Aviv ← Netanyahu cried like a little girl that night.

Dynamo Kyiv ← Zelensky cried like a baby that evening!

Red Star Belgrade ← The Serbians hated us and called us unorthodox!

Olympiacos Piraeus ← The Greeks hated us and called us a village!

...conceding just 3 goals so Paphos has a rock-solid defence, but of course Bayern is at another level!

On paper, Bayern is like three classes above Paphos!

So, can Paphos pull off a miracle? :?

It will rock the planet if they do, even if they get a draw... so be sure to watch it!

On the day I’ll post details of how/where to watch this match, but until that time comes I’ve been thinking about…

Heavy metal/rock music, and how it brought me a lot of good times and happiness as a teenager and beyond!

So I recently did a little research to find out the origins thereof… you know how at the time most people were listening to faggot music like the Beetles, the Monkeys, the Seekers, Fleetwood Mac, and similar gay crap… well I wasn’t into any of that feeble stuff!

What could possibly be more romantic than the Scorpion’s powerful ballads? They make the Beetles sound like complete amateurs!

Yeah, yeah I know… to each his own… but these guys did something completely different to what was so popular at the time (easy listening gay sounds) that it was a huge gamble and eventually paid off.

So I compiled a little list/table of all my favorite bands, the year they had formed, and where they hailed from, so I could better see the picture of their origins…

Heavy metal / Rock bands:
-------------------------------------
Scorpions - 1965 – Hanover
Pink Floyd - 1965 - London
The Doors - 1965 - Los Angeles
Jethro Tull – 1967 - Blackpool
Led Zeppelin – 1968 - London
Black Sabbath – 1968 - Birmingham
Deep Purple – 1968 - London
Judas Priest – 1969 - Birmingham
Thin Lizzy – 1969 - Dublin
Aerosmith – 1970 - Boston
Van Halen - 1972 - California
AC/DC – 1973 - Sydney
Iron Maiden -1975 - London
Rainbow – 1975 - Hertford
Motörhead – 1975 – London
Saxon – 1975 - Barnsley
Def Leppard – 1977 - Sheffield
Whitesnake – 1978 – London

And to my surprise out of the 18 bands I've listed 13 of them hail from Britain!

I’m not sure why I always thought that heavy metal/rock was more of an “American thing”... but I was obviously dead wrong, and we gotta give credit to where it is due!

Btw, I’m not sure if I should’ve added Golden Earring; famous for "Radar Love" and "Twilight Zone", because two great songs don’t make a great band... but anyway they’re Dutch!

That’s all for now, and I’ll leave you with this beautiful classic..

...which probably won’t play directly here because popular music on U-tube never does, so I might as well post the link instead.

If you read up on history of Led Zepplin, you will realise that they started the Heavy Metal and their manager Peter Grant turned the music industry upside down.

Enjoy. Very first song that started Heavy metal.

Ahmet Ertugen of Atlantic Records paid the group 200,000 dollars just to sell their records. Led Zep took 90% of takings of all concerts. Now that's what you call fuck the record companies properly.

Here is a song you would not have heard of by Pink Floyd.

Yeah some of the earliest bands seem to have started out in psychedelic rock and later evolved into heavy metal/rock.

That's the downside of bands I suppose... by the time they come up with the good stuff they will have released tons of crap!

Except Led Zepp, the two songs were on the first album named Led Zepp 1.

Here is two from Led Zepp 2.

What was amazing about this second song was despite the fact that Led Zepp never appeared in Top of The Pops, this was their introduction music. And I am thankful to them otherwise I would not have been introduced to this music in my youth. You will like the orgasm bit. Although the BBC never used this bit in their intro.

Good musicians stand out. They took this song from the 20s and made it their own.
