I have been advised by an agent that Protaras and surrounding areas in due a boom shortly.

Paphos has seen it and its now the South East corner which will experience the next one.

I thought Protaras was in boom in the 1990's. Or maybe you need a newer better boom?

It has been suggested for some time now, that there is a very good chance that a new golf course is about to be built on the fringes of Ayia Napa, which is just a bus ride away.

Regards Charlie.

IMO there are no boom areas in Cyprus, but I believe there will be continual steady growth in property prices, as I have stated elsewhere.

Golf courses excite people but I would suggest we think about what happened at Aphrodite Hills. Lots of people were sold the 'dream' of a Golf property and bought at very high prices. However, those who have sought to sell find that resale buyers are not prepared to pay premium prices for these properties. There are a lot for sale and there are few selling. A golf course is not the Holy Grail of property investment.

Agreed.

Why pay double to live on a golf course when so many other properties are available just a few minutes drive away.

Too many golf course. Too expensive for this island too. Stop with the golf course. Build a theme park for everyone rather than the minority.

The 'boom' has long gone. We wll only see bust from now on. See my post titled 'Cyprus Property Crash ?' for details. Anyone who disagrees is welcome to back up their claims with hard evidence and I will gladly counter.

There is already a lot of supply here which will become chronic oversupply during the next 2-3 years. Prepare for the worst.

Aphrodite Hills was a bad idea in my opinion. Which high-flying millionaire is going to pay 2 million dollars for a villa in the middle of nowhere without any real facilities to keep them entertained (marina, casino, etc).

For 2 million dollars I can go to Rio or Monte Carlo.

It was poorly researched and poorly executed.

As for golf, I have heard from the Mukhtari of Asomatos that Mr Lanitis is going to chop down the Fassouri citrus groves west of Limassol to make way for a full-size golf course and a 'luxury' villa/apartment complex in 2007. This will be 9000 skales of trees in the most green and lush part of Limassol cut down to make some rich people happy. I always said that the Greeks will never rest until this island turns into a floating concrete box. Surely we are digging our own graves.

And we have the nerve to accuse the TC's of overdevelopment !

Whenever I see a youngster driving a really expensive flashy car, I say to myself, theres another one driving around in his Grannys olive grove!!! The motto everywhere seems to be live for today - dont think about tommorrow - sad isnt it?
