I know very well how cypriots are because I am one of them. I was born and raised in Cyprus. Your attitude towards me just because you thought I was an American, talking to me about how you never heard me complain about Iraq shows how closed minded you are and people like you are the ones that give us a bad name. It has to be all the Cypriot ex pats that are crazy and not your attitude towards us right? Typical...

When in Rome do as the Romans do. Cyprus , like all small islands , has its share of unpleasant aspects , on balance however the quality of living is far higher than that of many European countries. The Cypriots are on balance very friendly and tolerant of other races.I left Cyprus in 1961 and on returning to Cyprus for short brakes over the years have naturally noticed the huge changes that have taken place , most if not all for the good of Cyprus and Cypriots. Have encountered grievances suffered by UK EGGLESO KIPREOUS , English Cypriots , and have always argued that it is perfectly natural to complain about various aspects of Cyprus living,
but when In Cyprus be a Cypriot even if your Greek is not that good.
Tell them you are a Cypriot , tell them you are proud to be one , above all less criticism of their driving , road manners , not constantly saying thank you and please, and that they are kucky to live in such a beatifull country. And never criticise their driving! !

Thanks Militiades for such a constructive approach of yours. I am personally sick of such overgenerilisations. Nobody knows how many homeless individuals I have helped once I was studying in a foreign country and they dare to come here and accuse me of being a racist and shortminded individual!
Thanks again

Please grow up....
You are the one who started by telling me about how you think I react to things you know nothing about. If you cant play with the big dogs then stay on the porch.
I have the right to express my thoughts on what I have seen and experienced. If a lot of people have experienced the same thing it becomes a fact. I dont know why you took it personally and decided to attack ME at first but in my first post I didnt see anywhere where I said michalis was this or that . So grow the hell up and stop taking everything personally. nowhere in my original post did I say that ALL Cypriots are like that. This is my last reply to you. I will not dignify you with an answer anymore.

I have also the right to express my views on what I have seen and experienced abroad or not?

You were the one who provided all the insults when you did not have sufficient argument to reply to my post or not?

Then what are you telling me !

Grow up please :D

Anyone who has visited different countries and cultures has suffered name calling and experienced rudeness and downright ignorance and stupidity. I have seen utter hatred come out sometimes. All from people who do not know me but make assumptions about me because of my race or nationality. All countries and cultures have these types of people but most people are not this way. The open curiousity, friendliness, and warmth that I have experienced has been far greather than the childish name calling and the hatred.

Yes I dont deny that there are arrogant and ignorant people here! I get mad when I see them mistreating foreigners or when they care only for money and ignoring the quality of the service they provide to them. Indeed I have also observed the name calling and can be frustrating when you hear it all the time.

My father employs a sri lankan to do the Gardening and I shout to him when he does not pay him according on the effort he put in but based on the cash on his wallet.

I see all the foreigners as an asset in this country unfortunately we have our own apples here who have been used to act the way they used to and give the whole country a bad reputation. I have also had my own bad experiences here not only abroad of trying to overcharge things to me or being arrogant etc but thats how life is even bad experiences can offer you a lot!
