Shawarma is the corrupted word for 'Çevirme' used by the Arabs of the levant = Gyro/Yiro.

Ofcourse, Döner Kebab is Turkish (Ottoman) unles you can prove otherwise. :evil:

In dim and distant past ... here in London... used to use it to refer to linoleum.

Muşamma and Muşamba are both correct.

1. Oiled silk wax cloth tarpaulin.

2. Linoleum.

3. Raincoat. Waterproof.

The Arabic root could be ŞAM' which means a covering or specifically a veil. (means Damascus as well).
