Few times the death rate rose by 40% in that time period vs. your beliefs that there would be zero rise.

Since 50% was the base %, and getting 40% is not too bad. In golf, that would be ruled a “gimme” when played amongst gentlemen! :D

Death rates are still rising and you will lose whether you said 3,000 or 4,000 deaths 7 days average by the end of August.

Ok, I just had a full run down of how deaths are recorded in Australia since 1901. Nothing at all has changed in Australia due to COVID-19. So the statistics Australia divulges are accurate according to the formula and procedures they have.

When someone dies, all ailments and conditions that contributed to someone’s death are recorded.

If the person suffered from cancer, diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, high blood pressure, then all these conditions are entered into the death certificate if they contributed to the death.

If the person was positive with COVID and died from lack of oxygen or respiratory difficulties which is what COVID does, and was also a sufferer of any of the above, including cancer, they are entered as a COVID statistic as a contributory or primary cause of death. So they are entered into the COVID stats. That is irrespective of the fact that their cancer was also terminal.

It isn’t true that only COVID is the only thing entered on a death certificate. It could be many conditions but it can be deemed a primary cause of death even in Cancer patients.

All this information is available to the general public through the coroner’s office. If people bothered to ask, they can get a complete run down of how cause of death is determined. It’s public information.

Can’t get more transparent than that.
