Any war action against Ukraine by Russia, will be a negative action for Turkey and a positive action for Greece/Cyprus. Turkey’s balancing act on the high wire between Russia and the west is going to be a very difficult one. For Turkey, both sides of the stick is going to be shitty, especially in Syria and Libya, not to mention her economy whichever horse she backs here. This may decide once and for all whether Turkey belongs in the west or not.

It could work out oposite. Erdogan may get some favours from both sides being the go-between messenger boy. Assuming they are going to give gratiuties for any favours.

So Erdogan has done well out of this so far.

Our friend will not like this one bit. I do have only one question though. What is even more interesting is that he did not see the Nazis as invaders to fight them, he saw them as friends to join the fight against the Russians. Russians were not the ones invading Ukraine, they were fighting to free Ukraine from the Nazis.

Russia didn't invade Ukraine? It went in to free the population from those terrible Nazis? Unfortunately killing tens of thousands of its civilians (yes I know - "They deserved it") and just about raising to the ground half of the place in the process. Not to mention millions of refugeed. Judging by the news media in the Swineworld, Ukraine is about to take Crimea. Of course no maps are shown and no figures for Ukrainian losses of soldiers and weapons are mentioned.

Can't say I've personally read anything regarding the Ukraine being about to take Crimea. And, it's always seemed to me anyway that you can't trust casualty figures in this war from either side. Nor for that matter from members here (the Russians lost 600 in their 10 months of battle to take Bakhmut? ). And - TBH - who would believe them anyway?

Normally I would suggest you get some principles and stick to them. Far too late though. Like Groucho Marx you have some but if people don't like them, well, here are others. As the Ecumenical Patriarch said, this is the message that is most necessary in the violent era we live in, and pointed out that we, who bear the name of Christ and call ourselves right-believing, we who are Orthodox, must rise to our vocation to be peacemakers, to be mercy-bearers, to be those who will sacrifice their own lives for the sake of love.
