It boils down to these two options and you prefer the latter.

A good friend of mine told me that in about 10 million years erosion will indeed reach Louroutzina and he has a lot of what will become beach properties. Anybody interested in some before the prices rise.

Turkey is taking steps to establish a stronger military and diplomatic presence in Syria, but the goal appears to be avoiding a direct military confrontation with Israel.

I dont think they have the balls to attack Israel directly, so Syria wont become a "Turkish protectorate", as long as Israel doesn't attack Turkey directly either.

I’m pretty sure the predominantly Islamic Syrians would much rather be “occupied” by the equally Islamic Turkey, than by arch-enemy Jews/Israelis!

In the eyes of Syrians, I’m sure Turkey is the lesser of these two evils!

In fact many Muslims revere Turkey’s international standing… a NATO member with a significant military and a relatively prosperous economy.

Oh and let’s not forget that the Jihadis who ousted the Assad government and are now recognized as the new Syrian leadership by the criminal West, are the formerly defeated insurgents who found refuge and support in Turkey!

We will have to wait and see, but from my perspective, those Muslims "revering Turkeys international standing" haven't got two brain cells to rub together.

They are the type of people that love Turkey and support (a dictator) Erdogan but would shun it and cross to live in Europe given any excuse or chance.

There are three countries that are an exception…

Egypt, Turkey and Iran

All three of which could seriously harm Israel if push came to shove, and the US would have great difficulty striking back without getting hurt back and embroiled in serious conflict!

Take note of how swiftly and decisively the US bombed Yemen, but not so Iran!

Ask yourself… why is the US taking so long in punishing Iran who unleashed 2,000 odd missiles and rockets on Israel not too long ago?

Because it’s a very delicate matter to confront a country that can defend itself!
