Black President of America !.

Postby Eliko » Sat Feb 10, 2007 12:24 pm

What a refreshing impact such a possibility presents to the USA, Barack Obama could lift the whole nation out of the doldrums, his appointment could also be a fitting end to the long struggle for equality in that land, if the man displayed the general qualities of the (respectable) Black population I feel sure the entire world could benefit.

Good luck to him, from a 'White Man'. :) :) :) :) :)

may be a Turkish prime minister in Cyprus-Greece, and a Greek prime minister in Turkey could benefit all of us too :)

Further to my first comment and having considered the response from karma, it occurs to me that the same quality of leadership (as I suggested may be beneficial to the USA), might also be advantageous to most other nations, I have travelled extensively and am happy to advance the opinion that among the nicest folk I have encountered are the Afro- Americans, those that display their natural charm and respect for humanity would serve as an example to us all, they have retained a dignity which is enviable in it's simplicity and have developed a culture which would ensure peace on earth.

I realize that there are some elements at odds to the above appraisal, I base my comments on the behaviour of those among them who uphold the pride which only a suffering people that has surmounted the burden of hatred and emerged preaching love and peace may achieve.

Personally I think there's a mix of people in all cultures.... some people are good, some are bad, most are in between, every individual has their own strengths & weaknesses.... although admittedly some cultures / nationals seem more friendly than others, we can only go on our own experiences... most of us haven't met enough of any group of people to make any statistical sample. Also some cultures / nation's people are more friendly to one type of person than another. E.g as a Brit, I am sure I would be more welcome in some countries than in others. I won't speculate on where, though....

USA should have a black president. It is about time! But I don't see why a black USA president should necessarily be better. Condoleza Rise is black and she is also woman. This doesn't mean she would be better thank Bush!

Sotos, I raised the subject of America's presidency suggesting that a black leader might be a redeeming factor for the nation, PROVIDING, the new leader displayed the qualities of the Afro-American culture.

I refer to the natural respect and dignity that those people who have overcome hatred , deprivation and abuse yet have retained a culture of peace and love among us.

I have had many dealings with such folk, they are (in my opinion), suitable for high office precisely as a result of the suffering they have endured with such dignity.

I do not refer to those of the younger generation who have become rebellious, but of the older and wiser of them who have maintained the traditions passed to them from their ancestors, (some younger still possess such qualities), but not, I think, Condo Rice. :)

GorillaGal !!!, nice to meet you again even though you got in a moment before me, I raised this issue because I felt that America could do with a radical change at the top, Hillary Clinton would merely be an extension of what already exists there, I suggest that a black president with the qualities mentioned would be a great advantage and might inject some calm into the turmoil that now apparently dominates your nation.

 :) :) :) :)
