We went to the travel agents on Friday afternoon and were told by Cosmos that they were not prepared to give us our money back as the hotel would be open on the 25th July, the day were are flying out. They had previously told us that if they found the hotel would not open on the 15th July they would refund our money and have therefore gone back on their word. They became quite off hand with the travel agent when we challenged them over the refund date and I have to say we will never travel with Cosmos ever again and i would advise anyone intending to book a holiday with them to think twice, after all on the 15th June they guaranteed us our money back if at any point they opening date of the 15th July did not happen. The travel agent asked twice to confirm this at the time and even wrote this on the file she has. All cosmos are interested in is keeping our money and forcing us to either accept what they offer us or take another hotel from their brochure.

Now I have confirmation that the hotel will not be open I will be in the travel agent first thing in the morning when they open. ABTA were unhelpful when the travel agent spoke to them and defended Cosmos saying under clause 3I they are within there right to do this to us. However, when I speak to them tomorrow and give them an update I hope they will be a little more concerned about the way in which Cosmos have been dealing with this.

I have just spoken to Thomsons and they have confirmed that they have received a Head Office memo confirming the late opening of the hotel. They are working through reassigning everyone at the moment, but they believe most people will be moved to Paphos as they have very few hotels in Limassol now. If you want to speak to them the number I was given was 0870 6075016. This is a different number to their customer services line. Given that the hotel was packed throughout last August and is very popular with families I expect that they will have a lot of reassigning to do.

Thomson's have known about this problem for eight weeks...ring the pre departures and ask to speak to Kate tell her you know she was informed of this problem ages ago Thomsons are crapping themselves because they know some people like myself did their homework and caught them out.
Just retumed from a Thomson holiday after originally been booked for the Oasis,i spoke to the Atlantica staff and they all knew the hotel would not be ready till aprox Sept 2007!!! and so did Thomsons....Thomsons endorse Atlantica hotels.

Hello, i have just phoned the atlantica and they have just told me the hotel will be opening on the 31st aug, also ive just looked on the atlantica website and they have blocked bookings untill the 30 aug which means you can book from the 31st aug, why first choice claim they do not know nothing about this is a mystery. I am going into my travel agents again 2morrow and demand they phone the hotel themselves, what more proof do they need. Thankyou for the photos and email address.

Be very careful hotel promised me it would be open June 23rd!! ive just returned from a hotel directly across the road(Atlantica Gardens) and Oasis is a complete building site..hotel and travel companies are just securing bookings and not bothered about what happens when you arrive in Cyprus. We saw loads of families really upset to discover they were being put into alternative acommodation without any notice...just be very careful and don't bank on hotel being open make sure you have a plan in place incase yoy arrive to something quite different i have a recent photo of Oasis taking last weekend

Hi Lumia25
I am planning to stay in the Atlantica Gardens at the end of August and would be very grateful if you could briefly summarise what faciltiies they have there. I am annoyed that the main hotel will almost certainly still be closed (along with the majority of the facilities).
Also, did you notice whether anyone was staying on an all-inclusive basis at the gardens (since that is what I booked for on the understanding that we could eat and drink in the hotel as well as the gardens.
E-mail me if you prefer! [email protected]
Many thanks

Hello

Atlantica Gardens is a small clean hotel with nice helpful staff,i went with husband and kids aged 8 and 5 and we also stayed all inclusive, the food for us was a big let down but everyone has different tastes so don't let it worry you too much :)
Breakfasts were nice but we found the lunch time menu a bit boring after a few days...fish fingers and chips or chicken nuggets pizza hamburger and more chips!! only stayed for one evening meal so missed the other thirteen, hotel has one small kids pool and a big pool along with a pool bar.
The hotel was quite quiet when we went so there was no problem getting a sunlounger..basically it's a nice hotel but the we thought the food was a bit bad(choices not taste) kids hated the food but loved the pool and we had two fab kid club reps who kept everyone amused. We have complained to Thomson because we paid almost £3000 but hardly ate anything,we're not fussy eaters just got bored of chips!

Having stayed at the Atlantica Hotel (not the apartments or Atlantica Gardens as they are now known), we have eaten there on several occasions. The first time we stayed, the food was fine for a 3 star hotel. The 2nd time, there was a new food & beverage manager and the food was excellent and it was still only a 3 star hotel.

As far as I'm aware, those people staying on AI or Half Board basis would usually eat in the main hotel as the apartments were originally designed as self-catering. The Atlantica are notorious for overbooking (hence the change of name to Atlantica Gardens rather than apartments) and often guests booking apartments were put into the hotel rooms without facilities and vice versa.....

However, I do believe they sometimes offer the buffet style set menu's at the Gardens part of the complex (ie - BBQ nights, Italian night etc).

It sounds like they are probably not running a full complement of staff just now if the hotel is not completely open at this time.

HELLO, I HAVE GOOD NEWS. I WENT INTO THE CO OP TRAVEL AGENTS TODAY WITH A COPY OF AN EMAIL FROM THE HOTEL CONFIRMING THE 31 AUG IS THE OPENING DATE, A LOVELY LADY THERE CALLED KRISTINA PHONED FIRST CHOICE AND SPOKE TO SOMEONE CALLED PAUL, WHO SAID THEY JUST FOUND OUT YESTERDAY THE OPENING DATE IS THE 31.08.2007 AND NOT THE 15 JULY. FIRST CHOICE THEN OFFERED US THE MIRAMARE HOTEL WHICH WAS NOT AN OPTION AND WANTED £130 FOR US TO MOVE TO THE AVANTI VILLAGE IN PAPHOS( ON SAT THEY WANTED £574 FOR US TO CHANGE TO THE SAME HOTEL). THEN THEY SAID WE COULDNT CHANGE TO THE HOTEL UNTILL WE HAVE THE LETTER FROM FIRST CHOICE CONFIRMING THE ATLANTICA HOTEL WOULDNT BE OPEN, THEY SAID WE WILL RECIEVE THIS IN A FEW WEEKS!!!!!!!!, LESS THAN 3 WEEKS NOTICE. KRISTINA THEN ASKED TO SPEAK TO CUSTOMER SERVICES, SHE WAS PUT ON HOLD FOR A WHILE, THEN PAUL CAME BACK ON THE PHONE SAYING THEY WILL CHANGE US OVER WITH NO EXTRA COST. THEN TO MAKE MATTERS EVEN BETTER KRISTANA SAID THERE IS A £40 REFUND FOR YOU IN THE OFFICE, NOT SURE WHAT THAT IS FOR BUT WE ARE NOW £40 BETTER OFF AND IN THE HOTEL WE WANTED TO BE CHANGED TO. I ADVISE EVERYONE TO GO BACK TO YOUR TRAVEL AGENTS WITH A COPY OF CONFIRMATION FROM THE HOTEL WHICH IS ON THIS WEBSITE, HOPE ALL WORKS OUT WELL FOR YOU ALL AND THANKYOU FOR EVERYONES HELP ON THE WEBSITE, NATALIE.
