To be honest I don't see how any of the sanctions could work.

Banning Airspace:
90% of Russia's air movement is actually carrying goods. And from that 83% goes to China.
Aeroflot planes are all on lease from an Irish company.
Air traveling to and from Russia can easily be arranged by letting foreign based Airliners in.

Banning SWIFT: As described in earlier link.

Ceasing assets of Oligarchs
The selected Oligarchs have assets everywhere in the world. They will never get poor. And it's just ceasing, can't last for ever. Most of them have huge connections to corrupt politicians anyway...

Ceasing assets of Russias major Banks and depriving them of doing any transactions in $,STG,Yen, and Euro.
This already has an effect on the exchange rate of ruble, and already forced a couple of Banks to close down. However it will certainly backfire as Russians may demand payments for their exports in rubles, and you'd have to buy rubles from somewhere using your own currency. Hundreds of currencies around, they may even go for Saudi Rials

Whatever the west will do, it can't stop the traders from trading.

So if the intention of sanctions is to block payments for Russian gas, the tool is not Swift; it is sanctions on Gazprom and its banking facilities.

I beleive the rise of prices is because Russia exports half a million barrels/day to US

That is interesting,

I was under the impression that swift was a bank transfer and by cutting Russia (70%) out of swift, it would mean that it would be very difficult for them to conduct their international trade.

Basically the SWIFT is just computerized instructions from one Bank to another to pay someone.
When I started business the Banks were doing these transactions with secured/coded fax messages.
And before that by telex machines.
The problem now is that they won't allow Banks to do transactions with the Russians in Euro, $, STG, or Yen. We in Cyprus only import 1% from Russia we won't be affected, but suppose someone wants to import something from Russia, how is he going to pay? He can't do it in Euros. But he can certainly do it with some other currency, it will cost say 3-5% more.

Ukraine's ambassador to the UN unashamedly makes a complete fool of himself by supposedly revealing the “last text message” a Russian soldier allegedly sent his mom before dying, which goes…

'Mama, I'm in Ukraine. There is a real war raging here. I'm afraid. We are bombing all of the cities, even targeting civilians'

Cool story bro!

The best part…

It's impossible for a professional soldier to carry a personal smartphone and especially while attacking another country!

It would give away your GPS location making you an easy target.

It would preoccupy you with irrelevant and counterproductive things including propaganda.

Radio emissions from the phone could interfere with sensitive military equipment.

And last but not least… a Russian smartphone would not have Internet access in the Ukraine!

Well not unless the Ukrainians arranged a special Internet package deal to welcome them at the border!
