What I find bizarre is… that much of the advice the Ukrainian authorities have been handing out to their citizens has been disastrous… such as “make Molotov cocktails” and similar stupidities,

After a little thought...

It must be the West’s idea to antagonize Russian vehicle crew in the hope of increasing civilian casualties!

But the professional Russian soldier is highly trained to ignore civilians even when tempted.

Ukrainian citizens would go up to their faces and hurl abuse and they would just stare in the distance in Zelensky’s direction without a flinch!

And these are the kind of things that make the Russian military so admirable.

Of course, they know that any violations from them would mean that Putin hangs them by the balls for he goes by the book with no deviation!

Those bastards!! How dare they antagonise and hurl abuse at invading forces in their country!! Should act more like Cypriots, we go shopping and have coffee with our invaders.

But the professional Russian soldier is highly trained to ignore civilians even when tempted.

Is this a dig at my friends here. Yes we are proud to put aside our differences as GC and TC and enjoy our common heritage as Cypriots with a decent Cypriot coffee, pilavuna and mahhallebi (during summer time) and in a fantastic Cypriot setting called Buyuk Han and also at times in the south too. You must attend one meeting, you will enjoy it. But I must warn you there is no alcohol involved till we get to lunch and you can drink all you like.

It's impossible for a professional soldier to carry a personal smartphone and especially while attacking another country!

It would give away your GPS location making you an easy target.

It would preoccupy you with irrelevant and counterproductive things including propaganda.

Radio emissions from the phone could interfere with sensitive military equipment.

And last but not least… a Russian smartphone would not have Internet access in the Ukraine!

Well not unless the Ukrainians arranged a special Internet package deal to welcome them at the border!

The point is that the Russian soldier could use his phone at the beginning of the war, as he was probably near the borders. The message is likely to be partly genuine. But only partly.
Phrases like "We are bombing ALL of the cities together, even targeting civilians. " prove the fabrication.

There is NO excuse for Russia's invasion of a sovereign nation anymore for Turkeys6 invasion of Cyprus. The Russian army is currently bombing Kiev, they are playing with fire as I believe that the West will not just remain silent.
I have always liked Russia and considered Putin as a clever leader. Not anymore. Russia should be ashamed of their actions, innocent people women and children are suffering, how dare they do this to an independent country. I know that the Russian people do not support this invasion.

With all the fighting attention given to Kiev, which may be an intended attention diversion as well as a lot of Ukraine’s military power sent there, Russia is slowly connecting Crimea to rebel held areas on eastern Ukraine and around the “Sea of Azov”, which is a major prize for Putin, regardless what happens to other parts of Ukraine. Russia might even take the Odessa region and leave Ukraine completely “landlocked”.

It appears to be “Mission Accomplished” for Russia cutting Estern Ukraine off the “Sea of Azov”. Russia might now head south to do the same in the Odessa region.
